The Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .300 WSM is a refined bolt-action rifle built for hunters who demand speed and accuracy in the field. Chambered in the hard-hitting .300 Winchester Short Magnum, this rifle combines Winchester's legendary action with the lightweight handling that made the Featherweight a favorite among serious hunters for generations. At 7 pounds with a 24-inch barrel, it balances power and portability without sacrificing the precision needed for hunting medium to large game at distance.
What sets the Model 70 Featherweight apart is its meticulous engineering: a forged steel receiver with an integral recoil lug bedded front and rear eliminates zero shift, while the cold hammer-forged free-floating barrel and recessed target crown ensure consistent accuracy. The pre-'64 style controlled round feed with claw extractor gives you full command of the cartridge from magazine to chamber, and the M.O.A. Trigger System—zero take-up, zero creep, zero overtravel—breaks clean every time. A jeweled bolt body and knurled handle add both function and timeless appeal.
The Grade I walnut stock wears a satin finish with cut checkering and the signature Schnabel forearm that makes the Featherweight instantly recognizable. Polished metal surfaces gleam with classic rifle character, while the three-position safety lets you verify your status at a glance. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad keeps felt recoil manageable, and the alloy one-piece bottom metal adds rigidity for better accuracy under field conditions. This is a rifle you'll reach for year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight different from other .300 WSM rifles?
The Featherweight combines a lightweight profile (7 lbs) with Winchester's proven pre-'64 controlled round feed action, an M.O.A. Trigger System that eliminates creep and take-up, and a bedded receiver that prevents zero shift. The free-floating barrel and recessed crown are designed for accuracy, while the classic walnut stock and Schnabel forearm are unmistakable marks of the Featherweight tradition.
Is the .300 WSM suitable for long-range hunting?
Yes. The .300 WSM is a potent short-action cartridge effective for medium to large game at extended ranges. This rifle's receiver bedding, free-floating barrel, and precision trigger make it capable of the accuracy required for long-range hunting when paired with quality optics and ammunition.
What's included with this rifle?
The Winchester Model 70 Featherweight comes as a complete rifle with the action, barrel, stock, and trigger system assembled. It does not include a scope or rings; you will need to add optics separately.
Is the stock adjustable?
No. The Grade I walnut stock is fixed with a Schnabel forearm and satin finish. Adjustability is not a feature of this model.
