The Winchester 70 Featherweight in .264 Win Mag is a classic bolt-action rifle built for hunters who demand both precision and portability. At 7 lbs 4 oz, this rifle won't wear you down during a day in the field, yet it delivers the accuracy serious long-range hunters expect. The .264 Win Mag is a proven magnum capable of taking game at distance, and Winchester has chambered it in a platform trusted by generations of American hunters. If you're looking for a lightweight rifle that doesn't compromise on performance or handling, the Featherweight delivers.

The action starts with Winchester's legendary Pre-'64 style controlled round feed system—a design that fully commands the cartridge from magazine to chamber to ejection, giving you confidence in every shot. The forged steel receiver features an integral recoil lug and is bedded front and rear to maintain zero and consistency. The cold hammer-forged barrel is free-floating and cut to a featherweight profile for balance and accuracy, while the recessed target crown protects the rifling and aids precision. A 24-inch barrel keeps the overall length to 44.75 inches, making this rifle quick and nimble in thick cover or from a bench.

The trigger is Winchester's M.O.A. system—zero take-up, zero creep, zero overtravel—a significant advantage in field hunting where a clean, predictable break matters. Three-position safety lets you see your safety status at a glance, and the three-position bolt is topped with a jeweled body and knurled handle for a classic feel. Satin black walnut stock with traditional cut checkering and Schnabel forearm evokes the original Featherweight aesthetic without being precious about it. The Pachmayr Decelerator pad absorbs recoil effectively, and an alloy one-piece bottom metal adds rigidity. Magazine capacity is 5 rounds.

This is a rifle for hunters who value what the Featherweight has always stood for: quick handling, reliable mechanics, and genuine accuracy—without the weight penalty or modern tactical styling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the .264 Win Mag a good choice for hunting?

The .264 Win Mag is a proven magnum cartridge that delivers velocity and energy for long-range hunting applications. Its capacity for extending effective range makes it attractive to hunters pursuing game at distance.

How light is the Winchester 70 Featherweight, and why does weight matter?

At 7 lbs 4 oz, the Featherweight is designed to minimize fatigue during a full day of hunting. A lighter rifle reduces the toll of carrying it across rough terrain and up elevation changes, while the Featherweight profile barrel maintains rigidity for accuracy despite the reduced weight.

What is the M.O.A. Trigger System and why is it important?

Winchester's M.O.A. Trigger System is engineered with zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel. This means there's no wasted motion before the shot breaks—the trigger goes straight from ready to fire with no surprises. For field hunting or target work, this translates to better shot placement and consistency.
