The Weatherby Orion Sporting 20-gauge break-action shotgun is a refined, nimble choice for competitive clay shooters and field hunters who prize smooth handling and quick target acquisition. Built on a low-profile receiver and fitted with 30-inch ported barrels, this 20ga delivers the balance and responsiveness that make breaking targets feel effortless. The high-gloss A-grade walnut stock and polished metalwork give it the cosmetic refinement of a purpose-built competition gun, while the adjustable comb lets you dial in your cheek weld for consistent, personalized fit—a feature that pays dividends over hundreds of rounds at the range or in the field.

Weatherby engineered this gun for speed and reliability. Automatic ejectors throw empties clear and fast, cutting reload time and keeping your focus downrange. The chrome-lined bores protect against corrosion and extend barrel life, and the fiber optic front sight stands out against any background for lightning-quick sight picture. A knurled extended choke system (Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Skeet) gives you flexibility to tune patterns for different distances and targets, whether you're working a sporting clays course or hunting upland game. The ambidextrous top tang safety is intuitive for both right and left-handed shooters.

At 6.6 pounds and 47.5 inches overall, the Orion Sporting is light enough to carry all day and svelte enough to snap to target without fatigue. The tapered ventilated top rib (10mm × 6mm) manages recoil and heat mirage, keeping your sight picture sharp even in extended shooting sessions. This is a shotgun that doesn't make you work harder than you need to—it's proven equally at home on the sporting range and in the upland or waterfowl field.

Frequently Asked Questions

What chokes come with the Weatherby Orion Sporting 20ga?

The shotgun ships with five knurled extended chokes: Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Skeet. This range allows you to adapt the pattern to different distances and shooting scenarios, from tight clay targets to wider field shots.

Is the Orion Sporting 20-gauge good for hunting and clay sports?

Yes. Weatherby designed the Orion Sporting as a versatile platform proven on both the sporting clays range and in the field. The light recoil of a 20-gauge, adjustable comb, and responsive handling make it well-suited to both upland hunting and clay competitions, though your choice of choke and shot load should match your specific use.

Can left-handed shooters use this shotgun?

The Orion Sporting features an ambidextrous top tang safety, making it accessible to both right and left-handed shooters. However, as a standard break-action over-under, the ejection pattern and stock fit are designed for right-hand operation; confirm fit and handling in person if you shoot left-handed.

What is the length of pull, and is it adjustable?

The stock is cut to a 14.5-inch length of pull. The shotgun includes an adjustable comb so you can dial in the proper cheek weld height for your face and shooting style, but the length of pull itself is fixed at the factory dimension.
