The Weatherby Mark V High Country in .257 Wby Mag is a lightweight, mountain-focused bolt-action rifle engineered for hunters who demand performance without the burden of extra weight. Built on Weatherby's legendary Mark V action and topped with a 28" spiral fluted barrel, this magnum rifle manages to weigh just 5.7 lbs—a remarkable achievement for a full-power Weatherby cartridge. The .257 Wby Mag delivers flat trajectory and energy retention across extended ranges, making it a serious contender for western big game where the terrain demands a rifle you can actually pack all day.
What makes the High Country stand out is its purpose-built design for mountain hunting. The Peak 44 Bastion carbon fiber stock shaves weight without compromise—tipping the scales at 24 oz—while maintaining a shooter-friendly vertical grip and dual front swivel studs for flexible accessory attachment. The rifle comes equipped with an Accubrake to manage recoil signature and a 3DHEX Recoil pad that keeps felt recoil manageable, critical when you're shooting a magnum cartridge from a featherweight platform. Every finish detail reflects backcountry duty: Graphite Black Cerakote on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard, bolt, bolt knob, and safety, paired with exposed carbon fiber stock accents in WYO brown and a backpack sponge pattern that blends form and function.
This is a rifle built for serious mountain hunters who understand that the lightest rifle you'll actually use beats the "perfect" one left at camp. If your hunting takes you into high country where every ounce matters and precision at distance is non-negotiable, the Mark V High Country demands serious consideration.
