The Weatherby Mark V .300 Wby Mag rifle with a 26" barrel represents a serious step forward in lightweight magnum hunting design. Built on Weatherby's renowned titanium Mark V action, this Backcountry 2.0 Ti delivers the power hunters expect from the .300 Weatherby Magnum caliber without the weight penalty that typically comes with magnum rifles. The gray and white carbon fiber stock, paired with raw titanium machining and black Cerakote barrel work, gives this rifle a purposeful, modern aesthetic that doesn't sacrifice function for looks.

What sets this rifle apart is the engineering beneath the surface. The Mark V action itself is hand-built from titanium—lighter and stronger than traditional steel—and features spiral-fluted bolt work that reduces bearing surface for smoother cycling. The 26" #1 MOD contour barrel is fluted to shed weight while maintaining rigidity, and the whole system comes capped with Weatherby's Accubrake ST, a muzzle brake with 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that meaningfully tames the sharp recoil of magnum cartridges. The result is a rifle that handles like a much lighter gun when you pull the trigger, crucial for all-day hunting in steep country.

The Peak 44 Blacktooth carbon fiber stock is where Weatherby really pushed the envelope—it's finished in bare carbon with gray and white accents and weighs under 20 ounces on its own. Equally innovative is the second-generation 3DHEX recoil pad, a 3D-printed design with interlocking voids that progressively collapse and spread the recoil impulse over time, further softening the kick. Combined, all these features result in a rifle that comes in at just under 5 lbs—genuinely packable for backcountry hunters who cover serious ground.

If you're building a magnum rifle for high-altitude hunts, long treks to remote glassing points, or any situation where every ounce matters, the .300 Wby Mag Backcountry 2.0 Ti bridges the gap between raw power and field-practical weight better than most competitors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the actual weight of this rifle?

The Weatherby Mark V .300 Wby Mag Backcountry 2.0 Ti weighs 5.6 lbs as configured. That includes the titanium action, fluted barrel, carbon fiber stock, and Accubrake ST muzzle brake—it's one of the lightest magnum rifles available, which makes a real difference on a long pack-in hunt.

How does the Accubrake ST help with recoil?

The Accubrake ST features 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that redirect muzzle gases to reduce recoil. Combined with the progressive-collapse 3DHEX recoil pad in the stock, the two systems work together to substantially soften the sharp kick typical of .300 Magnum cartridges, making the rifle more pleasant to shoot and faster to reacquire targets.

Is this rifle right for long-range hunting?

Yes. The .300 Weatherby Magnum is a proven long-range cartridge, the 26" barrel supports a 1-10" twist rate suitable for heavier projectiles, and the lightweight titanium Mark V action is renowned for accuracy. The rifle comes ready to hunt at distance.

What comes with the rifle?

Based on the specs provided, the rifle ships as configured with the Accubrake ST installed. For a complete list of what's included and any accessories, contact Bosque Outdoors directly.
