The Weatherby Mark V .257 Wby Mag rifle with 26" barrel and brown finish brings together decades of Weatherby's magnum expertise with modern weight-saving engineering. Built on the time-proven Mark V action and chambered in the flat-shooting .257 Weatherby Magnum, this rifle is engineered for hunters who demand accuracy without compromise—whether you're glassing high country or making a long-range shot on open terrain. The Backcountry 2.0 Carbon edition combines a tensioned carbon fiber barrel system with an innovative lightweight stock and recoil management designed to keep you comfortable and steady through follow-up shots.

What sets this rifle apart is its commitment to putting power in your hands without weighing you down. The carbon fiber barrel isn't just for looks—Weatherby's internal testing demonstrates genuine sub-tenth-of-an-inch accuracy potential with quality ammunition. Paired with the Peak 44 Blacktooth carbon fiber stock (the lightest production carbon fiber stock available), this rifle comes in at just 6.6 lbs, making it genuinely packable for backcountry pursuits. The 3DHEX recoil pad uses 3D-printed interlocking geometry to absorb magnum recoil progressively, turning what could be a punishing shot into something manageable. Even the bolt gets the treatment—spiral fluting reduces weight while improving reliability, and the skeletonized aluminum knob keeps unnecessary mass out of the equation.

Cosmetically, the Patriot Brown Cerakote finish protects all the metal surfaces while the brown and green pattern on the stock breaks up your outline in the field. The titanium Accubrake ST helps control recoil with 30 symmetrically-spaced ports designed specifically for magnum cartridges. With a 26" #4 contour barrel, 1-in-10" twist rate, 3+1 magazine capacity, and a 13.5" length of pull, this rifle is built for serious hunters who understand that real accuracy comes from a stiff platform and smart engineering, not hype.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle ready to hunt out of the box?

Yes. It comes with the Accubrake ST installed and the factory Weatherby Mark V action is ready to go. You'll want to mount an optic and sight it in before heading afield, but there's no assembly required beyond that.

What makes the .257 Weatherby Magnum a good hunting cartridge?

The .257 Weatherby Mag is known for flat trajectory and high velocity, making it effective for medium to larger game at distance. It's a magnum cartridge that delivers performance without excessive recoil in a rifle this well-designed.

How much does this rifle weigh compared to typical hunting rifles?

At 6.6 lbs, the Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon is significantly lighter than conventional hunting rifles, making it ideal for backcountry hunts where every pound matters. The carbon fiber barrel and stock are the primary contributors to this weight savings.

What's included with the rifle?

The rifle comes with a 3+1 magazine capacity and the Accubrake ST installed. Optics, ammunition, and ammunition storage are sold separately.
