The TriStar Cypher X is a nimble over/under shotgun built for shooters who value lightweight handling and precision in the field. Chambered in .410 gauge with a 28-inch barrel, this gun excels as an upland companion, clay target platform, or training tool—the .410's mild recoil and compact profile make it ideal for younger shooters, small-frame hunters, and anyone refining technique without punishment. The aluminum alloy receiver keeps the gun lean without sacrificing durability, while the satin deluxe walnut furniture delivers a classic, honest aesthetic that improves with use.

The Cypher X comes equipped with CT-5 extended choke tubes (Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full), giving you flexibility to pattern the gun for everything from tight-coverage hunting to wider spreads at the clay course. The selective ejector design means you're only unloading the barrel you actually shot, a thoughtful touch that speeds follow-up attempts. A fiber optic sight sits atop the rib for quick target acquisition in low light or fast-moving situations—practical and reliable.

Whether you're introducing someone to shotgunning, pursuing wild quail and grouse, or running skeet on the weekend, the Cypher X delivers accessible, adaptable performance. The 28-inch tubes and balanced weight encourage smooth swing and natural pointing, making this gun a genuine pleasure to shoot rather than a chore to carry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the .410 gauge best used for?

The .410 excels for upland bird hunting (quail, grouse, woodcock), small-game pursuits, clay target shooting, and training new shooters. Its lighter recoil and compact size make it approachable without sacrificing effectiveness at appropriate distances.

Are the CT-5 chokes included, or sold separately?

The CT-5 extended choke tubes (Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full) ship with the gun. This full set allows you to optimize patterns for different hunting scenarios and clay disciplines right out of the box.

What does selective ejector mean, and is it an advantage?

Selective ejectors automatically eject only the barrel you fired, leaving the unfired round in place. This speeds up reloading and reduces the chance of losing an unfired shell—a genuine convenience in the field or on the range.

Is this shotgun suitable for a younger or smaller-frame shooter?

Yes. The .410 gauge produces significantly less recoil than 12 or 20 gauge, and the aluminum alloy receiver keeps overall weight manageable. The 28-inch barrels balance well and are quicker to mount, making the Cypher X an excellent entry-level or youth platform. That said, fit and comfort are individual—handling one in person is always recommended.
