The TriStar Cypher X over/under shotgun in 28 gauge delivers refined handling and clean aesthetics in a lightweight platform built for upland hunting and clay work. With its aluminum alloy receiver, this 28-gauge double stays nimble in the field without sacrificing durability or that satisfying heft you want at the moment of truth. The 28-inch barrel strikes a practical balance for pointing and swing, whether you're threading through tight cover or working birds over open ground.

TriStar equipped the Cypher X with selective ejectors that kick out fired hulls while leaving unfired rounds in place—a thoughtful detail when you're cycling through a hunt. The fiber optic sight sits proud on the rib, giving you a bright, instinctive aiming reference in variable light without adding clutter. A satin deluxe walnut stock wraps the receiver in classic wood, finished to age well and feel good in your hands season after season.

The included CT-5X choke system lets you dial in your pattern: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. That's flexibility across everything from close-flushing work to longer shooting situations, and the extended chokes are straightforward to swap in the field. The 28 gauge itself appeals to shooters who prefer lighter recoil, lower shot charges, and a gun that doesn't feel like a sledgehammer after a day of walking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What chokes come with the TriStar Cypher X?

The shotgun includes the CT-5X extended choke system with five chokes: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. They're designed to be field-swappable so you can adjust your pattern to match your hunting situation.

Is the 28 gauge good for upland hunting?

Yes. The 28 gauge is a popular choice for upland bird hunting because it generates mild recoil, carries less shot weight, and doesn't fatigue you over a long day of walking. The Cypher X's 28-inch barrel and lightweight aluminum receiver make it particularly pleasant to carry.

What does selective ejectors mean?

Selective ejectors automatically eject fired shells when you open the action while leaving any unfired rounds in the chambers. This is convenient in the field—you only need to manually remove the round you didn't shoot.

Will the fiber optic sight help in low light?

The fiber optic front sight gathers and concentrates available light, making it visible in overcast or dim conditions typical of early morning and late-day hunting when game is most active.
