The Tristar Trinity II over/under shotgun in 28 gauge delivers classic upland hunting performance in a well-balanced platform that handles light target work and driven game with equal poise. Built on an aluminum alloy receiver, this 28-inch-barreled gun combines practical handling with the inherent advantages of the over/under layout: clean sight picture, straightforward maintenance, and reliable function across varied hunting conditions. The satin select walnut stock provides a traditional feel and durable finish that ages gracefully in the field.

The 28 gauge occupies a sweet spot for serious upland hunters—lighter recoil and faster swing than a 20, tighter patterns than a .410, and enough energy for quail, woodcock, and similar game at reasonable distances. This Trinity II wears that heritage well, favoring shootability and finesse over sheer knockdown power. The fiber optic sight aids target acquisition in low light and fast-breaking moments, while the extractors (not ejectors) keep the gun simple, reliable, and easy to service in the field.

Choke flexibility comes standard: the included CT-5 choke set covers the spectrum—Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full—so you can dial in patterns for everything from close brush to open field work. Swap them in seconds to adapt to changing conditions or different hunting situations throughout the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What chokes come with the Trinity II, and can I swap them?

The gun ships with the full CT-5 choke set: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. All five are removable and interchangeable, so you can quickly tailor the gun's pattern to your hunting scenario or clay discipline.

Is the 28 gauge suitable for hunting, or is it mainly for clay shooting?

The 28 gauge is a genuine upland hunting cartridge with a rich pedigree in quail and woodcock hunting. It delivers adequate patterns for birds at practical ranges while offering mild recoil and faster handling than larger gauges. It's equally at home on the clays course.

Does this gun have ejectors or extractors?

The Trinity II is fitted with extractors, not ejectors. Spent shells are withdrawn from the chambers but not forcibly ejected, making the gun simpler to maintain and service in the field.

What kind of stock finish does this shotgun have?

The stock is crafted from satin select walnut with a satin finish—a traditional, low-gloss treatment that resists glare and weathers naturally with field use.
