The Taylors & Company 1873 Trapper .45 LC lever-action rifle brings authentic Old West handling to modern shooting in a genuinely packable package. At 18 inches, the barrel is short enough to navigate brush and tight spaces—think ranch work, truck gun duty, or close-range hunting where a standard-length rifle feels cumbersome. The .45 LC chamber delivers proven stopping power with manageable recoil, making it a natural fit for hunters and sportsmen who appreciate a rifle with character and real-world utility.
This is a purist's lever gun: straightforward mechanics, walnut checkered pistol grip stock, and blued steel finish that earns its patina in the field. The 10-round capacity keeps you in the action, and iron sights—buckhorn rear and blade front—are dependable and quick-acquiring in hunting scenarios where a scope isn't the answer. Weighing 7.39 pounds, it's light enough for a day afield without feeling like a toy, and at 36.87 inches overall length, it handles more like a carbine than a full-size rifle.
Whether you're drawn to the mechanical satisfaction of lever-action rifles, need a compact .45 LC option for hunting medium game, or just want a gun that looks and feels like it belongs in real work, the Taylors & Company Trapper delivers without gimmicks or unnecessary complexity. This is the kind of rifle that works whether you're comfortable around firearms or still building your collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Taylors & Company 1873 Trapper a good choice for hunting?
Yes. The .45 LC caliber is well-suited for hunting medium game at the ranges where iron sights are practical. The compact 18-inch barrel and 36.87-inch overall length make it easier to handle in brush or from a vehicle than a full-size rifle, and the 10-round capacity gives you multiple opportunities. It's a straightforward, reliable option for hunters who prefer lever-action rifles.
Can I mount a scope on this rifle?
The product specifications provided do not include information about rail systems, mounting options, or scope compatibility. Contact us directly for details on aftermarket mounting solutions.
How does the 18-inch barrel affect performance?
A shorter barrel reduces overall length and weight, making the rifle more maneuverable in tight spaces and easier to carry in a vehicle or over long distances. The tradeoff is slightly reduced muzzle velocity compared to a longer barrel, though .45 LC ballistics remain effective at typical hunting ranges.
What's the weight and does it matter for carry?
At 7.39 pounds, the Trapper is light enough for extended carry afield without fatigue, yet substantial enough to feel solid and well-balanced. The compact 36.87-inch length keeps it from feeling unwieldy, making it practical for hunters, ranchers, or anyone who needs a rifle ready to go.
