The Taylors & Company 1873 .45 LC 7.5" revolver in white photo-engraved finish is a faithful reproduction of one of the Old West's most iconic handguns. Built on a single-action frame and chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge, this six-shooter delivers the authentic look and feel of a period revolver—minus the compromise on reliability and build quality. The 7.5-inch barrel strikes the right balance between firearm control and the longer sight radius that made this platform a standard for both lawmen and civilians during the frontier era. Whether you're a Cowboy Action Shooting competitor, a historical firearms enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates a revolver with real character, this Taylor's & Company offering brings serious pedigree to your safe or range bag.

The white finish with photo-engraving elevates this revolver beyond a plain utilitarian tool—it's a firearm built to be shown off. The Walnut grips provide a classic appearance that complements the period-correct aesthetics while delivering a comfortable hold. At 2.5 pounds, the gun feels substantial enough to inspire confidence without becoming fatiguing during extended shooting sessions. The blade front sight is straightforward and effective, keeping the design true to 1873-era specifications.

This is a purpose-built single-action revolver for those who understand what that action type demands: deliberate trigger work, a working knowledge of safe handling, and respect for the cartridge. If you're building a Cowboy Action rig, reconstructing a historically accurate carry setup, or you simply prefer the mechanical simplicity and trigger control of single-action revolvers, the Taylors & Company 1873 in .45 LC is a legitimate choice backed by decades of reproduction experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a single-action revolver—do I have to cock the hammer for every shot?

Yes. The Taylors & Company 1873 is a true single-action revolver. You must manually cock the hammer before each shot, then pull the trigger. This is standard for all firearms of this design, including Cowboy Action Shooting matches and historical reproductions. It's not a limitation for the intended use; it's the defining characteristic of the platform.

What is .45 Colt ammunition, and is it still available?

.45 Colt (also called .45 LC) is a rimmed, centerfire cartridge that dates back to 1872 and remains one of the most widely available and versatile revolver rounds today. It's produced by all major ammunition manufacturers in a range of power levels, from light target loads to heavy hunting loads, making it an excellent choice for both practice and serious use.

Can I use this revolver for Cowboy Action Shooting?

Yes. The Taylors & Company 1873 in .45 LC is purpose-built for Cowboy Action Shooting and similar historical shooting sports. Its single-action design, caliber, and classic profile make it a legitimate choice for SASS-sanctioned matches.

What does "white photo-engraved" finish mean?

The white finish refers to a nickel or bright finish, and the photo-engraving is detailed surface ornamentation applied during manufacture. This is an exhibition-grade aesthetic that sets this revolver apart from plain utility versions—it's designed to look as good as it shoots.
