The Taylors & Company 1860 Henry .45 LC lever-action rifle is a faithful reproduction of one of America's most iconic rifles—a gun that saw service in the Civil War and beyond. This steel octagon barrel lever-action rifle brings authentic period styling to the modern shooter who appreciates classic lines, smooth lever cycling, and the proven reliability of .45 LC ballistics. Whether you're a cowboy action shooter, a collector, or someone who simply loves shooting traditional rifles, this Henry delivers the look and feel of genuine frontier hardware.

Chambered in .45 LC and fed through a 13-round magazine, this rifle balances capacity with the ergonomic handling that made lever guns the workhorse of the American West. The 24.25-inch octagon barrel is a hallmark of 19th-century rifle craftsmanship—it's not just aesthetics; that profile provides a stiff, reliable shooting platform. The walnut furniture and blued finish aren't costume pieces either; they're durable materials that age gracefully and speak to an honest, no-nonsense build philosophy.

The ladder and fixed sights are period-correct and functional, giving you multiple aiming points as ranges stretch or tighten. At 9 pounds and 43.75 inches overall, this rifle handles like a classic carbine should—nimble enough for offhand shooting or swift transitions between targets, substantial enough that recoil management isn't a concern. This is a rifle that rewards good trigger control and smooth lever manipulation, the kind of gun that reminds you why lever-actions have remained in continuous use for over 150 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle suitable for cowboy action shooting?

Yes. The 1860 Henry design, classic lever action, and .45 LC chambering are all staples of cowboy action competitions. The 13-round capacity and period-correct aesthetics make it a natural choice for SASS and similar disciplines.

What's the difference between the ladder and fixed sights?

The ladder sight adjusts vertically for distance, allowing you to dial in elevation for farther shots. The fixed sight provides a single point of aim. Many shooters use the fixed sight for their typical hunting or target distance and fold the ladder up when not needed.

Is .45 LC a good hunting cartridge?

The .45 LC is a proven round for medium-range hunting and target work. Loaded appropriately, it's effective on deer and similar game at distances where the rifle's sights and your skill allow accurate shot placement. Performance depends heavily on ammunition selection and shot placement.

How does this Henry lever-action cycle compared to other reproduction rifles?

We don't have detailed comparative data on hand-feel versus other makers' guns, but the Taylors & Company reputation rests on smooth, reliable cycling and solid fit and finish. Your best bet is to handle one if possible—lever smoothness is something shooters feel immediately.
