The Taylors & Company 1858 Remington Conversion .38 Special 5.5" revolver bridges the gap between classic Remington aesthetics and modern shooting practicality. Built on the time-honored 1858 Remington frame, this single-action wheelgun has been converted to chamber .38 Special—a cartridge that's easier to find, more affordable to shoot, and gentler on the shooter than period-correct black powder loads. If you're drawn to vintage-style revolvers but want something you'll actually carry and shoot regularly, this conversion delivers the Old West look without the maintenance headaches.

The 5.5-inch octagonal barrel strikes a balance between a manageable sight radius and a package that doesn't feel unwieldy in the field or at the range. Two-piece walnut grips give you that authentic frontier feel, while the blued finish ages gracefully and is straightforward to maintain. At 2.35 pounds, it's light enough for extended carry but heavy enough to help manage recoil and provide a solid hold. The basic blade sight is honest sighting equipment—not fancy, but functional and consistent with the platform's heritage.

This revolver appeals to Remington enthusiasts, Cowboy Action shooters looking for a .38 Special option, and anyone who wants a single-action revolver with genuine character and shooting utility. The 1858 Remington profile is iconic, and the conversion to .38 Special makes this gun genuinely usable without sacrificing authenticity.
