The Taylors & Company 1858 Remington Conversion in .45 LC is a faithful reproduction of one of the Old West's most iconic revolvers, reimagined for modern cartridge shooting. Built on the proven Remington frame and featuring the reliability that made these guns legendary, this conversion revolver bridges classic cowboy aesthetics with practical .45 LC performance. Whether you're into Cowboy Action Shooting, historical reenactment, or simply appreciate quality replica firearms with genuine shooting credentials, this blue-finished beauty delivers authentic handling and authentic results downrange.

The 8-inch octagonal barrel gives you sight radius and velocity suitable for target work and hunting medium game, while the 2-piece walnut grips provide a period-correct feel that fits naturally in the hand. At 2.60 pounds and 13.8 inches overall, it carries like a working gun, not a safe queen. The blade front sight keeps things simple and reliable—no bells, no batteries, just point and shoot. The .45 LC round, respected for over a century, offers proven stopping power and recoil you can manage all day at the range.

This is a six-shot revolver that rewards precision and deliberate trigger control. Taylors & Company builds these with the same attention to metallurgy and function that modern shooters expect, so you get a gun that feels period-correct but doesn't require a gunsmith's visit after your first range session. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a .45 LC conversion revolver?

A conversion revolver is a percussion-cap revolver (like the 1858 Remington) that has been converted to fire modern cartridges, in this case .45 LC. You get the authentic Remington feel and mechanics with the convenience and reliability of modern ammunition—no black powder, no loose caps, no separate powder charges.

Is this gun suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting?

Yes. The 1858 Remington conversion is a popular choice for Cowboy Action competitors. The reliable mechanics, six-shot capacity, and .45 LC power make it both rule-legal and practical for that sport.

What's included, and what do I need to get started?

You receive the revolver as described. You'll need .45 LC ammunition to shoot it. Depending on your use, you may also want a holster, cleaning kit, and spare ammunition for range sessions or sport.

How does the 8-inch barrel compare to other Remington conversions?

The 8-inch barrel is a mid-range choice for the 1858 Remington platform. It balances sight radius and velocity with manageability—longer than a 5.5-inch, shorter than a 12-inch. For target shooting and hunting applications, it's a versatile all-around length.
