The Taylors & Co Smoke Wagon Taylor Tuned Standard is a meticulously crafted .45 LC revolver that bridges authentic Old West heritage with modern shooting refinement. Built for cowboy action shooters, traditional revolver enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to classic single-action firearms, this Taylor-tuned model delivers the look and feel of period-correct Colt designs with hand-finished improvements from Taylors and Company's gunsmithing team. The 4.75-inch barrel strikes the practical balance that made this length legendary—short enough for close-quarters work, long enough for solid accuracy at reasonable distances.

What sets the Smoke Wagon apart is the factory tuning applied during manufacture. Taylors and Company's gunsmiths polish internals and refine action geometry to give you a smoother trigger and more consistent lock-up than standard reproductions. For cowboy action competitors running stage after stage, or for folks who simply appreciate a gun that breaks in better, this difference compounds over thousands of rounds. The 6-round capacity is standard for this class of revolver, and the .45 LC chambering offers real knockdown power and excellent brass availability in both modern factory and handload ammunition.

The Smoke Wagon wears a professional two-tone finish: deep blue on the barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard, with color case hardening on the frame that recalls the aesthetic of original Colt Single Actions. Checkered walnut grips provide secure purchase and classic appearance. Sights are built for the revolver's intended role—a widened front blade and widened sight channel give you a clearer sight picture when speed and accuracy matter, without the bulk of adjustable target sights. At 2.27 pounds, it handles as a working gun should, quick to the hand and balanced for extended shooting sessions.

This is a firearm designed to be used, not just displayed. Whether you're competing in SASS matches, hunting, or simply exploring the mechanics and charm of single-action revolvers, the Smoke Wagon's combination of authenticity and tuned performance makes it a logical choice for serious operators in the traditional revolver world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Smoke Wagon suitable for cowboy action shooting competition?

Yes. The Taylor Tuned action refinement, smooth trigger, and proven sight geometry make it a solid choice for SASS and similar matches. The .45 LC chambering and 4.75-inch barrel are standard for competitive single-action revolver shooters.

What does "Taylor Tuned" mean?

Taylors and Company hand-finishes the internals and refines the action geometry during manufacture. This results in a smoother trigger pull and more consistent lock-up compared to untuned reproductions, improving both feel and reliability over time.

Can I use modern .45 LC factory ammunition in this revolver?

The Smoke Wagon is chambered in .45 LC, which has broad modern ammunition availability from all major manufacturers. You can also handload for this caliber, which many cowboy action shooters do.

What is the difference between the 4.75" and other barrel lengths?

The 4.75-inch barrel is the most versatile length for traditional single-action use—it balances velocity and sight radius with practical handling and draw speed. It's the same length Colt chambered in the original Peacemaker.
