The Taurus TH40C is a compact .40 S&W pistol built for shooters who want serious stopping power in a frame that doesn't compromise on control or concealability. This hammer-fired DA/SA semi-automatic combines the reliability of a time-tested platform with modern ergonomics—finger grooves and aggressive stippling on the grip panels give you a secure, customized hold whether you're running drills at the range or carrying for personal defense. At just over 25 ounces and 7.1 inches overall, the TH40C rides comfortably in appendix or waistband carry without feeling underpowered.

The compact frame houses an 11-round magazine, letting you carry genuine defensive capacity in a package that's truly manageable for all-day use. Dual-action/single-action operation gives you flexibility: the first shot breaks as a deliberate double-action trigger, then subsequent rounds fire single-action after the slide cycles. That transition takes training, but it rewards precision and control. The 3.54-inch barrel and Novak drift-adjustable sights—front and rear—are proven choices for accuracy work, and the manual safety plus firing pin block keep the gun secure in the holster or home.

If you've shot larger .40 S&W pistols and want that caliber's performance in a truly compact package, or if you're looking for a hammer-fired alternative in the polymer-frame category, the TH40C delivers proven mechanics without the marketing hype. It's a working gun for people who actually shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between DA/SA and a striker-fired compact .40?

DA/SA means the first trigger pull is long and deliberate (double-action), which naturally slows your initial shot—a safety feature many shooters prefer. After that, the trigger resets shorter and lighter (single-action). Striker-fired guns feel the same every shot. The TH40C's design rewards trigger control and discipline, especially if you're trained on revolver or traditional semi-auto platforms.

Is the TH40C suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. At 7.1 inches long and 25 ounces, it's compact enough for strong-side hip carry, appendix carry, or compact shoulder holsters. The .40 S&W round provides recognized defensive performance, and the 11-round magazine gives you adequate capacity without excessive bulk.

Can I adjust the Novak sights for windage and elevation?

Yes. Both front and rear sights are Novak drift-adjustable, meaning you can move them to zero for your ammunition and shooting style. You'll need a drift tool or armorer's punch to adjust them—it's a straightforward process if you're comfortable with basic gunsmithing.

What does the firing pin block do?

The firing pin block is a mechanical safety that prevents the firing pin from striking the primer unless the trigger is fully pressed. Combined with the manual safety, it provides two independent layers of protection against unintended discharge if the gun is dropped or jostled in a holster.
