The Taurus TH40 is a full-size, hammer-fired .40 S&W pistol built for shooters who want a modern take on the classic SA/DA platform. This isn't a polymer-frame budget gun pretending to be something it isn't—the TH40 delivers the manual control and predictable trigger transition that experienced handgun shooters expect, wrapped in a practical, user-tuned design. Whether you're building a duty rig, setting up for competitive sport shooting, or adding a serious centerfire option to your collection, the TH40 gives you a genuinely functional full-size gun without the price tag of imports or 1911s.
The polymer frame is smartly executed: aggressive stippling on the grip panels gives you something to hold onto without overdoing it, and finger grooves naturally guide your hand into a consistent purchase. Full-size models come with interchangeable backstraps so you can dial in the grip angle and circumference that works for your hand—this level of adjustability usually shows up on guns two or three times the price. You get 15 rounds of .40 S&W capacity, which is genuinely useful for home defense, competition, or range work where capacity matters.
Sights are Novak drift-adjustable front and rear—a proven design that lets you fine-tune your zero without guessing or sending it to a gunsmith. The firing pin block and manual safety (LCI) give you the failsafe features modern shooters expect. At just under 28 ounces and 7.72 inches overall, it's a legitimate full-size gun, not a compact trying to fit your belt—carry it in a quality holster and it disappears.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the trigger like on the TH40?
The TH40 uses a traditional SA/DA hammer-fired design. First shot from a lowered hammer is double-action (heavier, longer pull for safety), then it cocks to single-action for follow-up shots (lighter, shorter). This gives experienced shooters tactile and mechanical control—you always know what mode the gun is in.
Can I adjust the grip size on the full-size model?
Yes. The full-size TH40 comes with interchangeable backstraps so you can customize the grip circumference and angle to fit your hand properly. Getting the grip right is one of the most underrated tuning steps in handgun shooting.
What sights does it come with?
The TH40 ships with Novak drift-adjustable sights front and rear. Novak sights are a solid, proven design; drift adjustment means you can tune your zero at the range without special tools or gunsmithing.
Is this gun suitable for concealed carry?
At 7.72 inches overall and 28 ounces, the TH40 is a full-size gun—it's larger than compact or subcompact options. It works best in open carry, duty carry, or as a home defense or range gun. For concealed carry, consider a compact model if your carry method supports it.
