The Taurus 605 is a compact .357 Magnum revolver built for shooters who need serious stopping power in a pocket-friendly package. With a 2-inch barrel and 5-shot cylinder, this small-frame wheelgun delivers the ballistic authority of .357 Magnum in a platform that rides easily in an ankle holster, jacket pocket, or vehicle glove box. At just 24 ounces, it won't weigh you down on long days afield or behind the counter, making it a practical choice for backup, off-duty carry, or deep-woods insurance.
The 605 chambered in .357 Magnum gives you flexibility—you can load full-power .357 rounds for maximum stopping power or step down to milder .38 Special ammunition if you prefer reduced recoil and cost savings. The blue finish provides classic revolver aesthetics with straightforward corrosion resistance. Double-action/single-action operation lets you fire fast in a threat situation or take your time for accurate single-action shots at the range or in the field.
Safety is built in via Taurus's transfer bar system, a proven mechanism that prevents accidental discharge if the gun is dropped or struck. Fixed front sight and a smooth trigger are no-frills and durable—exactly what a fighting revolver should be. The rubber grips give you control without sharp corners, and the compact profile makes this revolver easy to manage one-handed if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I shoot .38 Special in the Taurus 605?
Yes. The 605 is chambered in .357 Magnum and accepts .38 Special ammunition without any modifications. This lets you train with affordable .38s and load .357 Magnum for carry or hunting.
Is the Taurus 605 suitable for concealed carry?
Absolutely. At 24 ounces with a 2-inch barrel and overall length of 6.5 inches, the 605 is compact enough for ankle holsters, pocket carry, or small-of-back wear. Its small frame and lightweight build make it a popular backup gun.
What does the transfer bar safety do?
The Taurus Security System transfer bar is a mechanical safety that prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin if the gun is dropped or struck hard. It only allows the hammer to engage the firing pin when the trigger is deliberately pressed all the way back.
