The SML SP12 Compact Pro 12-gauge shotgun is a truly ambidextrous pump-action shotgun built for shooters who need fast, intuitive handling in tight quarters. Unlike traditional shotguns that force you to work around right-handed controls, the SP12 Compact Pro gives you full access to every control from either shoulder—safety, charging handle, and mag release all operate naturally whether you're left or right handed. Shells feed and eject through the bottom of the receiver, keeping the gun sleeker and more manageable in home defense or confined-space scenarios.

Built on an aluminum receiver machined from aircraft-grade 7075 billet stock, the SP12 Compact Pro marries durability with a lightweight frame. The 14.5-inch barrel is threaded to accept choke tubes and accessories, giving you flexibility to tune performance for your ammunition. Chambered in both 2¾" and 3" shells, you're not locked into one load—swap between standard and magnum rounds as your situation demands. The birds head grip and compact proportions keep the gun nimble without sacrificing the 5+1 capacity you get with 2¾" ammunition, making it genuinely handhome-ready without the bulk of a full-size tactical shotgun.

At just under 6 pounds, the SP12 Compact Pro won't wear you out during extended practice or deployment. The AR-style ambidextrous controls feel familiar to anyone comfortable with modern rifles, cutting the learning curve. This is a shotgun designed around the real-world needs of home defenders and shooters who value speed and accessibility over ergonomic compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the SML SP12 Compact Pro truly ambidextrous?

Yes. All controls—safety, charging handle, and magazine release—are equally accessible from either side of the receiver. Shells also feed and eject through the bottom, eliminating the typical left-side or right-side bias you find on conventional shotguns. This design lets you shoot and reload naturally from either shoulder without adapting your technique.

What ammunition does this shotgun accept?

The SP12 Compact Pro chambers both 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge shotgun shells, so you can use standard and magnum loads interchangeably. With 2¾" ammunition, you'll get 5+1 capacity.

Can I add chokes or other accessories to the barrel?

Yes. The 14.5-inch barrel is threaded to accept choke tubes and other threaded accessories, letting you customize fit and performance to your preferred load and use case.

Is this shotgun compact enough for home defense?

At 26.5" overall length and under 6 pounds, the SP12 Compact Pro is designed as a maneuverable home-defense platform. The birds head grip and shortened profile make it significantly easier to handle in hallways and confined spaces than full-length shotguns, while the 5+1 capacity provides practical firepower.
