Button-Rifled Carbon Steel

The Savage Axis II 6.5 Creedmoor bolt-action rifle brings serious accuracy and handling to hunters and long-range shooters without the premium price tag. Built on proven Savage engineering, this Model 57368 combines a carbon steel button-rifled barrel, user-adjustable AccuTrigger, and refined ergonomics to deliver the performance you'd expect from rifles costing significantly more. Whether you're glassing from a treestand, working prairie country, or shooting steel at distance, the Axis II's balance of accuracy, reliability, and shootability makes it a genuine working rifle for real hunting.

The redesigned synthetic stock feels substantial in hand—purposeful without unnecessary bulk—and the 13.75-inch length of pull fits a wide range of shooters straight from the box. That 22-inch sporter barrel strikes the sweet spot between velocity and handiness in the field, while the thread-in barrel headspacing system ensures the kind of chamber consistency that groups depend on. The side-mounted bolt release is familiar and intuitive, and the four-round detachable box magazine keeps you running without fumbling with single-round feeding.

The 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge is a proven choice for hunting medium to large game at range and for target shooters who want real-world ballistics without magnum recoil. This rifle respects that round's capability. At 6.3 pounds and 42.5 inches overall, it's honestly portable without sacrificing sight radius or barrel performance. The matte black finish on both the carbon steel receiver and stock is low-maintenance and won't catch light in the field.

This is the kind of rifle that earns trust: solid trigger, accurate bore, no-nonsense ergonomics, and a design proven across thousands of hunts. If you're building a practical hunting battery or stepping into long-range shooting without breaking the bank, the Axis II deserves serious consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with the rifle, and do I need to buy a magazine separately?

The Axis II comes with one detachable four-round box magazine. Additional magazines are available separately if you want spares for the range or hunting.

Is the 6.5 Creedmoor a good choice for hunting, and what can it handle?

The 6.5 Creedmoor is a proven cartridge for hunting medium to large game, with excellent ballistics at distance and manageable recoil. It's also popular for target shooting and long-range work. Actual suitability depends on your specific game and hunting situation—check local regulations and match bullet weight to your quarry.

Can the trigger be adjusted, and how does it work?

Yes, the AccuTrigger is user-adjustable, allowing you to tailor the break weight to your preference. This means you can fine-tune the trigger pull without gunsmith work, which supports more consistent and accurate shooting.

What's the difference between the Axis II and older Axis models?

The Axis II features an improved synthetic stock with better ergonomics and handling compared to the original Axis design. The action, barrel, and trigger systems remain built on Savage's proven foundation.
