The Savage Arms Stevens 301 single-shot 410 gauge shotgun is a no-nonsense break-action workhorse built for hunters and shooters who value reliability over complexity. With its straightforward design, smooth break action, and modern synthetic stock, the Stevens 301 brings time-tested single-shot performance to the field without unnecessary bells or complications. The 410 gauge offers manageable recoil and makes for an excellent choice for younger shooters, small-game hunting, and situations where you need one well-placed shot to count.
Built on a platform with real field credentials, the Stevens 301 features a carbon steel barrel with a matte black finish that resists corrosion and glare while looking the part. The synthetic stock won't swell or crack in wet conditions and shrugs off the dings and scrapes that come with serious hunting—truck beds, brush, and years of hard use won't faze it. At 26 inches, the barrel strikes a practical balance between handling and sight radius, making the gun nimble in thick cover while still giving you the sight plane you need for accurate shooting.
Whether you're introducing someone new to shotgunning, hunting upland game or small game, or just want a reliable single-shot that does one thing exceptionally well, the Stevens 301 delivers honest performance without pretense. Savage Arms' reputation for accuracy and durability extends all the way down the lineup to this affordable, dependable classic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Stevens 301 410 good for a first-time shotgun shooter?
Yes. The 410 gauge produces significantly less recoil than larger shotgun gauges, making it an excellent choice for new shooters, youth hunters, and anyone sensitive to recoil. The single-shot design is straightforward to operate and maintain, with nothing to confuse a beginner.
What is the Stevens 301 best used for?
The 410 gauge single-shot excels at small-game hunting—squirrels, rabbits, and other upland game—as well as target shooting. Its light recoil and simple operation make it ideal for training shooters and for hunting situations where one accurate shot is all you need.
How durable is the synthetic stock in field conditions?
Synthetic stocks are designed to withstand moisture, temperature swings, and the physical bumps that come with hunting. Unlike wood, synthetics won't swell, crack, or warp when wet, making them reliable in wet weather and tough hunting environments.
