The Savage Arms Model 25 Lightweight Varminter is a .223 Remington bolt-action rifle built for shooters who demand accuracy and portability in the varmint field. With its compact 24-inch barrel, stainless steel construction, and satin wood laminate beavertail stock, this rifle delivers the precision you need for predator and small-game hunting without the heft of a full-size varmint gun. At 8.25 pounds, it's genuinely packable—ideal for longer days afield when every ounce matters. The 1:9 twist rate is optimized for standard .223 factory loads, and the 4-round capacity keeps you light and fast on follow-up shots.

The Model 25's bolt-action platform is proven reliable and easy to maintain. The stainless barrel and receiver resist corrosion in wet conditions, and the wood laminate stock is tough enough for hard use while remaining lighter than modern composites. The beavertail design provides a wider bearing surface for steadier offhand shooting and better support when working from improvised positions in the field. Whether you're calling coyotes, managing ground squirrels, or ringing steel at the range, this rifle handles the job without forcing you to lug unnecessary weight.

Savage has long been known for delivering real performance at sensible price points, and the Model 25 Lightweight Varminter is no exception. It's a working rifle for hunters and shooters who understand that varmint work doesn't require bells, whistles, or unnecessary bulk—just a dependable platform that shoots straight and goes where you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Savage Model 25 good for varmint hunting?

Yes. The .223 Remington caliber, lightweight profile, compact 24-inch barrel, and 1:9 twist rate are all well-suited to varmint work—coyotes, prairie dogs, groundhogs, and similar game. The stainless construction resists field wear, and the 8.25-pound weight is practical for days spent calling or glassing.

What kind of .223 ammunition works best with this rifle's 1:9 twist?

The 1:9 twist is designed to handle standard .223 Remington factory loads. For specific ammunition recommendations or performance with heavier or lighter bullets, consult Savage's documentation or contact our team.

What does the beavertail stock do?

The beavertail design widens the foregrip area, providing better support and stability when shooting from rest, prone, or offhand positions. It also offers more bearing surface for consistent gun handling in the field.

Is the barrel stainless, or just the receiver?

The barrel and receiver are both stainless steel, providing corrosion resistance throughout the action and bore.
