SAV AC338 Tactical Suppressor - Black
- Finish-Color:
- Black
The Savage Arms AC338 Tactical Suppressor is a modular rifle silencer engineered for magnum rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum, including .338 Win Mag and similar rounds. Built from 100% machined 7075-T6 aluminum and 6Al-4V titanium, this is a purpose-built suppressor for shooters who demand durability and consistent sound reduction on hard-hitting rifles. The direct-thread design with 5/8-24 pitch mounts solidly to your rifle's muzzle, while the serialized titanium thread insert ensures a secure fit that won't strip over time.
What sets the AC338 apart is its modular architecture. The replaceable core and end cap let you maintain your suppressor without replacing the entire unit—a practical feature for serious rifle users who log rounds downrange regularly. The integrated self-cleaning carbon cutters work to shed fouling during normal firing, helping keep internal passages clear. At 18.5 ounces and 10.9 inches long with a 1.75-inch diameter, it's a substantial but manageable addition to a tactical or hunting rifle. The hard-coat anodized finish protects the aluminum body in the field.
Sound reduction is rated at 26 dB at the barrel with a peak of 132.5 dB—meaningful suppression for magnum rifles. The thermal design is engineered for controlled fire: you can run up to 20 rounds in succession at one round per second, then allow the suppressor to cool to ambient temperature before resuming sustained fire. That's a realistic duty cycle for hunting, training, or tactical work where you're not hammering the gun continuously.
If you're running a .338 Lapua, .338 Win Mag, or other magnum rifle and want a suppressor that matches the power of your cartridge, the AC338 delivers the engineering and materials to handle the job.

Frequently Asked Questions
What rifles and calibers does the AC338 fit?
The AC338 is threaded in 5/8-24 pitch and rated for magnum rifles up to .338 Lapua Magnum, including .338 Win Mag and similar cartridges. You'll need to verify that your specific rifle's muzzle is already threaded in 5/8-24, or plan to have it threaded before mounting.
Can I replace parts on this suppressor?
Yes. The AC338 features a modular design with a replaceable core and end cap, so you can service the suppressor without buying a new unit. This is a big advantage if you shoot frequently and want long-term value.
How much sound reduction does it provide?
The suppressor delivers 26 dB of sound reduction at the barrel, with a peak measurement of 132.5 dB. The actual dB level you experience depends on your specific rifle, ammunition, and hearing position, but 26 dB is meaningful suppression for a magnum rifle.
How long can I shoot before the suppressor needs to cool?
The AC338 is rated for controlled fire at up to 20 rounds in succession (at one round per second), then it should cool to ambient temperature before resuming sustained shooting. This is consistent with typical hunting and training use cases where you're not running continuous rapid fire.
