The Remington 700 CDL SF in 7mm PRC is a stainless-steel bolt-action rifle built for serious hunters and shooters who demand reliability across demanding terrain and conditions. This rifle pairs Remington's legendary 700 platform with modern materials and precision engineering—a proven choice for backcountry hunts and long-range shooting where consistency matters as much as power.
The heart of this rifle is a receiver machined from solid stainless-steel bar stock, a manufacturing approach that ensures uniformity and strength from the ground up. The 26" barrel features a 5R rifling profile and is fluted to reduce overall weight without sacrificing rigidity—that matters when you're hiking into elk country or setting up for a distant shot. The cylindrical receiver design creates a solid bedding platform in the stock, translating directly to shot-to-shot consistency you can count on. The breech features Remington's three-rings-of-steel design: the barrel is counter-bored into the receiver and surrounded by it, forming a protective enclosure around the cartridge case head that delivers genuine strength and safety.
Your trigger is a Timney Impact 700, tuned for clean letoff. The stock is satin-finished walnut—handsome enough for tradition-minded hunters but practical enough for the field. You'll find drilled and tapped holes for a scope mount, hinged floor-plate for easy unloading, and sling studs for field carry. The 7mm PRC cartridge itself is a modern magnum choice: flat-shooting, powerful, and increasingly popular for big-game work from 200 to 600+ yards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this rifle ready for a scope out of the box?
The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, so you can install rings and a scope without gunsmith work. You'll need to source your own optic and rings.
What makes the 7mm PRC a good choice for hunting?
The 7mm PRC is a modern magnum cartridge designed for flat trajectories and effective energy at extended ranges, making it suitable for big-game hunting at distances from 200 yards and beyond.
What is the three-rings-of-steel design?
This Remington design feature refers to the breech area where the barrel is counter-bored into the receiver and surrounded by it, creating three layers of steel that enclose the cartridge case head. This configuration provides exceptional strength and case support.
Does the stainless steel require special maintenance?
Stainless steel is more corrosion-resistant than carbon steel, making it ideal for hunting in wet conditions or variable weather. Standard firearm cleaning and light oiling remains good practice.
