The Remington 700 .308 Win bolt-action rifle with a 20" barrel has earned its place as America's most trusted platform for hunters, precision shooters, and riflemen who demand reliable performance without unnecessary complexity. This Model R84152 delivers the legendary three-rings-of-steel receiver design and rock-solid accuracy Remington is known for, built on a design proven across decades in the field and at the range. The .308 Winchester cartridge remains a go-to choice for medium to large game hunting and tactical applications—ballistically efficient, widely available, and proven downrange in virtually every hunting scenario North America offers.

The 20-inch barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and handling, making this rifle equally at home in a tree stand, a mountain hunt, or behind a shooting bench. The synthetic stock sheds weather and abuse without the maintenance demands of wood, while the matte black finish on all exterior metalwork resists glare and corrosion. The receiver is drilled and tapped from the factory for optic mounts, so you're ready to scope it and get to work—no gunsmithing required.

This is a rifle built to shoot straight out of the box and keep shooting for years. No frills marketing here: it's the Model 700 platform that has become the standard by which bolt-action rifles are measured, now in a straightforward, honest configuration that focuses on what matters—accuracy, reliability, and a price point that doesn't punish your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

What scopes and mounts work with this rifle?

The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept standard scope mounts and rings. Any quality two-piece mount system designed for Remington 700 pattern receivers will work. We recommend checking with your gunsmith or optics dealer to verify compatibility with your specific scope choice.

Is the .308 Winchester good for hunting?

The .308 Win is one of the most versatile and proven hunting cartridges available. It's effective on medium to large game and is widely used across North America for deer, elk, and similar species. Ammunition is readily available and reasonably priced compared to many other centerfire options.

Does this rifle come ready to shoot, or do I need a scope?

The rifle is fully functional and will shoot accurately without a scope—many shooters use iron sights or mount backup iron sights. However, the receiver is already drilled and tapped for mounts, so you can easily add an optic whenever you're ready. Scope and mounts are sold separately.

What's the advantage of the synthetic stock over wood?

Synthetic stocks are weather-resistant, require no maintenance, and handle temperature and humidity changes without warping. They're ideal if you hunt in wet conditions or need a rifle that stays reliable in all seasons without regular care.
