The Remington 783 Heavy Barrel Synthetic in .223 Rem is a purpose-built hunting rifle that combines accurate target-profile engineering with practical field gear. Built on Remington's proven 783 platform, this 20-inch rifle pairs a heavy barrel with a Kryptek Obskura Transitional camo stock and FDE Cerakote finish—colors that blend naturally into arid and transitional terrain. If you're hunting varmints, predators, or medium game where precision and flat shooting matter, the 783 HBT delivers the accuracy expected from a heavier barrel without the weight penalty or cost of a premium long-range rig.
Accuracy starts with the foundation: a pillar-bedded stock locks the action in place, while Remington's CrossFire trigger system is user-adjustable to your preference. The 20-inch barrel is threaded at 1/2 x 28, ready for a suppressor, muzzle brake, or flash hider—a smart choice for hunters who want flexibility or noise reduction. An integral optics rail sits atop the receiver, so you're ready to mount glass straight out of the box. Sling mounts are included, making it simple to rig the rifle for field carry.
Handling features keep things practical: an oversized bolt handle cycles smoothly even with gloved hands, and a Supercell recoil pad manages .223 recoil while cushioning your shoulder. The detachable steel magazine holds five rounds and sits flush in the well, giving you quick reloads without fuss. At its price point, the 783 HBT punches above its weight in out-of-the-box accuracy and field-ready features.
