The Pietta Great Western II Deluxe California .45 LC revolver brings authentic single-action performance to shooters who value both function and aesthetics. Chambered in .45 LC with a 4.75" barrel, this revolver combines classic styling with hands-on usability—whether you're working a Cowboy Action Shooting match, practicing at the range, or adding a serious working sixgun to your collection. Pietta's reputation for quality Italian-made revolvers makes this a solid choice for anyone serious about traditional single-action shooting.

The standout detail here is the checkered walnut grip, which was previously reserved for Pietta's Custom Series. That translates to better control and a more refined feel in your hand compared to standard fare. The 4.75" barrel hits the sweet spot for balance and handling—long enough for decent sight radius and velocity, short enough to stay nimble. Standard casehardening on the frame adds authentic visual appeal and a functional hardened surface where it matters.

If you've been eyeing a Great Western II but wanted something more refined than base-model options, the Deluxe California checks that box. You get proven Pietta reliability without paying full Custom Series prices, plus the upgrade in grip material that makes repeated shooting sessions genuinely more comfortable. This is a gun that rewards putting in the work—at the range, in competition, or just enjoying what a well-balanced .45 LC revolver can do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Deluxe and standard Great Western II models?

The main upgrade is the checkered walnut grip, which was previously only available on Pietta's Custom Series. This provides better control and a more refined feel. The Deluxe gives you that upgrade without the full Custom Series cost.

Is this revolver suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting?

Yes. The .45 LC caliber, 4.75" barrel, and single-action design are all standard in Cowboy Action competitions. Pietta revolvers are widely used in CAS matches.

What does "standard casehardening" mean?

It's a heat-treating process that hardens the frame surface for durability while creating an attractive mottled color pattern. This finish is both functional and authentic to traditional single-action revolver design.

What grip options are available on this model?

This specific model comes with checkered walnut grips. Pietta also offers Ultra Ivory grips on the Deluxe California, though this listing specifies the walnut version.
