The Pietta 1873 GW II Buntline .45 Long Colt revolver brings authentic single-action heritage to your collection with a commanding 12-inch barrel that echoes the legendary Buntline legend. This is a full-size, six-round percussion revolver built on the proven 1873 platform, finished in deep color case hardening that catches light and draws eyes. Whether you're a serious Cowboy Action shooter, a collector of historically inspired firearms, or someone drawn to the romance of the Old West, the Buntline delivers both aesthetics and shootability in a package that demands respect at the range or on the trail.

That 12-inch tube isn't just for show. The extended sight radius steadies aim and the longer sight picture rewards precision shooting, making this Buntline a genuine tack-driver for deliberate, accurate work at distance—far different from the compact sidearm it takes its name from. The color case hardened receiver showcases the craftsmanship Pietta is known for: hand-finished, with the kind of depth and character you won't find in modern blued or stainless production guns. Pair that with the smooth single-action trigger and mechanical reliability of the 1873 design, and you've got a revolver that handles like an extension of your hand.

Fitted with walnut grips and built to fire .45 Long Colt ammunition, the Pietta Buntline II is a statement piece that belongs in the field or the safe of anyone serious about cowboy guns. This is period-correct styling married to practical accuracy—no compromises.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Buntline revolver and who shoots them?

The Buntline is a long-barreled variation of the 1873 Single Action revolver, inspired by legend and made famous in Wild West lore. It appeals to Cowboy Action shooters, single-action enthusiasts, historians, and collectors who value the extended sight radius and distinctive profile of a full-length barrel revolver.

Is the Pietta 1873 GW II Buntline suitable for Cowboy Action competition?

Yes. The 1873 platform is the foundation of Cowboy Action Shooting and period-correct single-action competitions. The 12-inch barrel and smooth action make it a solid competitor gun, though you should always check your local match rules for any barrel-length restrictions.

What ammunition does this revolver use?

The Pietta 1873 GW II Buntline chambers .45 Long Colt, a classic and widely available cartridge with deep roots in American shooting history.

What kind of finish is color case hardening and how durable is it?

Color case hardening is a hand-applied heat-treatment process that creates a hardened surface layer with beautiful, natural color variation—each gun is unique. It is functional and durable for use; the finish develops patina and character over time, which many shooters view as part of the charm of a traditional revolver.
