The North American Arms Earl is a compact .22 Mag revolver built on the proven 1860 Series platform—a five-shot single-action mini-revolver that fits the hand of someone who wants genuine concealed carry capability without sacrificing reliability. Chambered in .22 magnum, this stainless steel revolver delivers manageable recoil and accuracy in a frame small enough for deep pocket or ankle carry, making it a natural choice for backup, off-body, or dedicated backup wheelgun duty.

Like all NAA mini-revolvers, The Earl incorporates the half-way notch cylinder design—a safety feature that lets the hammer rest securely between rounds without needing an empty chamber. That means you can load all five shots and carry with the hammer down, eliminating the traditional mini-revolver compromise between round count and safety. The single-action trigger and classic 1860-style profile appeal to shooters who appreciate traditional revolver handling and aesthetics alongside modern reliability.

Stainless steel construction resists corrosion in all conditions—whether you're carrying daily in a city environment or in field use. The compact footprint makes it easy to manage in tight spaces, and .22 magnum ballistics offer sufficient velocity for a defensive small-frame revolver. Whether you're looking for a deep-concealment backup gun, a truck gun, or an alternative to polymer pocket pistols, The Earl delivers the mechanical simplicity and durability North American Arms is known for.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes The Earl's cylinder design safer than other mini-revolvers?

The Earl uses a half-way notch cylinder that allows the hammer to rest safely and securely between rounds without needing an empty chamber. This means you can load all five shots and carry with the hammer down, eliminating the safety compromise of traditional five-shot designs that require one empty chamber.

Is The Earl suitable for concealed carry and backup use?

Yes. The North American Arms Earl is a compact, lightweight five-shot revolver designed for deep concealment. Its small frame makes it practical for pocket, ankle, off-body, or backup carry scenarios.

Why choose .22 magnum in a mini-revolver?

The .22 magnum chambering provides velocity and accuracy in a compact platform with manageable recoil. For a small-frame backup or deep-concealment revolver, it balances shootability and performance in a firearm that's easy to carry and control.

Is the North American Arms Earl a single-action or double-action revolver?

The Earl is a single-action revolver, meaning you manually cock the hammer before each shot. This design contributes to its compact size and simplicity.
