The Keystone Sporting Arms Crickett .22 LR bolt-action youth rifle is built from the ground up for young shooters learning the fundamentals. This single-shot .22 rifle combines a light recoil profile, manageable size, and straightforward manual operation—everything a new shooter needs to build confidence and safe habits before stepping up to centerfire or semi-auto platforms. The black synthetic stock is durable, weather-resistant, and designed around a compact 11.5-inch length of pull that fits smaller frames comfortably.

At just 3 pounds, the Crickett is light enough for kids to carry and control, while the 16.125-inch barrel keeps overall length to 30 inches—making it easy to handle from the bench, off sticks, or in a hunting scenario. The single-shot design enforces deliberate shooting and ammunition discipline, which is exactly what youth rifle programs and hunting mentors value. The manual cocking bolt action is simple to learn and reliable; there's no charging handle complexity or gas system to confuse a young shooter.

Sights are practical out of the box: a fixed front post and adjustable rear peep sight. If you want to mount a scope for target work or small-game hunting, the receiver is drilled and tapped for Crickett scope rings, giving you an upgrade path without gunsmithing. The trigger breaks at approximately 2.5 to 3 pounds—crisp enough for precision without being hair-trigger sensitive. The automatic rebounding firing pin safety prevents discharge if the gun is dropped or the bolt is worked roughly, a feature that matters when young hands are learning.

Included are an EZ load feed ramp and swivel screws, so you can attach a sling if desired. This is a no-frills, purpose-built .22 for teaching: safe, accurate, and affordable enough that parents and coaches can put multiple guns in a youth program without breaking the budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Crickett .22 LR a good rifle for a beginner shooter or youth hunter?

Yes. The Crickett is purpose-built for new shooters. The light .22 caliber has minimal recoil, the single-shot action teaches deliberate aim and ammunition discipline, and the compact size and 11.5-inch length of pull fit youth frames. The manual bolt operation is simple and safe to learn. It's widely used in youth shooting programs and is a proven first rifle for hunters introducing kids to small-game hunting.

Can I mount a scope on this rifle?

Yes. The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept Crickett scope mounts, so you can add a rimfire scope for target work or improved accuracy at range without gunsmithing. The factory iron sights are also ready to use out of the box.

What comes with the rifle?

The Crickett includes an EZ load feed ramp and swivel screws. You will need to purchase ammunition (.22 Long Rifle), sights or scope if desired, and a sling separately.

How does the safety mechanism work?

The rifle has an automatic rebounding firing pin safety. The firing pin is held back and blocked from impact unless the trigger is deliberately pulled, preventing accidental discharge if the rifle is dropped or the bolt is manipulated roughly. This is a key safety feature for young shooters.
