Kel-Tec RDB Defender 5.56mm Rifle - Tan, 30-Round Capacity
- Capacity-Rounds:
- 30
- Caliber-Gauge:
- 223 Remington / 5.56 NATO
The Kel-Tec RDB Defender 5.56mm rifle in tan is a lightweight bullpup designed for shooters who want a compact, maneuverable platform without sacrificing versatility. Built on proven RDB lineage, the Defender combines a 16.1-inch barrel with a collapsible stock to keep overall length to 27 inches—ideal for property defense, tactical training, or situations where a shorter profile matters. At 6.7 pounds unloaded, it handles like an extension of your body rather than a burden, making it practical for extended use in vehicles, tight spaces, or extended operations where fatigue is a real concern.
The RDB Defender ships with an aluminum M-LOK handguard, giving you genuine modularity to add lights, lasers, grips, or other tactical accessories without proprietary rail systems. The pencil-profile barrel keeps weight down while maintaining adequate stiffness for accuracy, and the 1:7 twist rate is optimized for a wide range of 5.56 ammunition. The collapsible stock isn't just a selling point—it's essential ergonomics for a bullpup, letting you achieve a solid cheek weld and shooting position that a fixed stock can't match. Magazine compatibility extends to any standard AR15 magazine, so you're not locked into a single sourcing stream and can use whatever reliable magazines you already trust.
A 4.5 to 5.5 pound trigger pull provides a predictable break without the creep or slop that makes bullpups difficult to shoot well. That matters whether you're running drills at the range, zeroing for hunting, or training for defensive readiness. The 30-round capacity standard configuration gives you practical firepower for any lawful purpose, and you can drop to smaller magazines for hunting or precision work if needed. The tan finish resists glare and works across multiple environments—from desert to brush to urban settings.
If you've dismissed bullpups because of ergonomic compromises, the RDB Defender deserves a second look. It's built on the ethos that a rifle should fit you, not fight you, while delivering the compact package that modern tactical and defensive roles demand.

The RDB Defender accepts any standard AR15 magazine, including 30-round capacity and smaller options. This cross-compatibility means you can use magazines you already own and aren't locked into proprietary sourcing.
Can I customize this rifle with tactical accessories?
Yes. The aluminum M-LOK handguard allows you to attach lights, lasers, grips, and other accessories directly. M-LOK is a standard mounting system used across the industry, so you have broad accessory options.
Is the collapsible stock removable?
The RDB Defender ships with a collapsible stock as standard. For specifics on removal or replacement, consult Kel-Tec's user manual or contact the manufacturer directly.
What's the practical use case for a bullpup this compact?
The 27-inch overall length and 6.7-pound weight make it practical for vehicle storage, confined spaces, property defense, or training scenarios where a shorter, lighter rifle improves maneuverability. The collapsible stock helps accommodate different body types and shooting positions.
