The Howa Standard Hunter .30-06 Springfield Walnut Rifle is a classically styled bolt-action rifle built for hunters who appreciate clean lines, reliable performance, and honest craftsmanship. The M1500 platform has earned respect in the field for decades, and this walnut-stocked version brings that tradition to shooters looking for a do-it-all .30-06 that won't break the bank. Whether you're hunting deer, elk, or simply ringing steel at the range, this rifle delivers the accuracy and dependability you need without unnecessary complexity.
The real appeal here is simplicity backed by capability. You get a 22-inch barrel that balances velocity with maneuverability in thick cover, a Monte Carlo walnut stock that feels right in your hands, and a receiver drilled and tapped from the factory for easy scope mounting. The 4+1 magazine capacity gives you enough on hand without the bulk, and the 3-position safety keeps your thumb in the right place whether you're moving through the field or settling into a bench rest. At 7.2 pounds, it's light enough for a day of hiking but substantial enough to manage recoil when you need to make a second shot count.
Howa backs this rifle with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee, so you can trust what you're getting. The HACT trigger is user-tunable, letting you dial in the pull weight to your preference. A hinged floor plate makes reloading the magazine intuitive, sling swivel studs are already installed for quick attachment, and the 5/8x24 threaded muzzle opens up suppressor and muzzle brake options down the road. The rubber recoil pad absorbs punishment, especially important in .30-06 form. No iron sights come standard—this rifle is optimized for optics, which is where modern hunting rifles should be anyway.
If you want a .30-06 bolt-action rifle that delivers classic handling, proven reliability, and sub-MOA accuracy without premium pricing, the Howa Standard Hunter is a legitimate choice. Pair it with your preferred scope and load, and you've got a rifle that'll perform year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What scope mounting options does the Howa Standard Hunter .30-06 have?
The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so you can mount any standard scope ring system. No pre-installed bases come with the rifle—you'll choose rings to match your scope and preference. This flexibility lets you pair the rifle with your optic of choice.
Can I mount a suppressor on this rifle?
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 5/8x24, which is a common suppressor thread pitch. You'll be able to mount most modern cans designed for .30 caliber rifles, though always verify compatibility with your specific suppressor before purchase.
Is the HACT trigger adjustable?
Yes. The HACT trigger is user-tunable, meaning you can adjust the pull weight to your liking. Detailed instructions on pull weight adjustment should come with the rifle—consult those before making changes.
What comes in the box with this rifle?
The rifle ships with sling swivel studs installed and a rubber recoil pad attached. No sights, scope, rings, or ammunition are included. You'll need to source your own scope and mounting hardware to get on target.
