The Howa Standard Hunter .243 Winchester bolt-action rifle delivers genuine hunting performance without the premium price tag. This is a straightforward, no-nonsense repeater built for precision and reliability in the field—whether you're after varmints, deer, or honing your long-range marksmanship. The .243 Winchester remains one of the most practical calibers for North American hunting: flat-shooting, mild recoil, and powerful enough for medium game when you do your part. Howa's reputation for quality control and accuracy backs this rifle, and the walnut stock gives it the classic look hunters appreciate.

The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so mounting a quality scope is straightforward. The three-position safety is intuitive and reliable, and the hinged floor plate makes loading, unloading, and maintenance easy. Sling swivel studs are already installed, so you're ready to strap it on and head out. The 22-inch barrel is a proven length for .243 hunting—responsive and handy in brush, yet long enough to generate the velocity the cartridge needs. At 7.2 pounds, it's light enough for a day in the hills without feeling flimsy, and the black rubber recoil pad keeps shoulder fatigue out of the equation.

Howa backs this rifle with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee, a claim backed by their HACT trigger and quality production standards. The threaded muzzle means you can add a suppressor or muzzle device if your hunting or range plans call for it. Five rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber gives you practical capacity without bulk. This is a rifle that works—no marketing hype, just honest performance and value.

What's the .243 Winchester good for?

Can I use a suppressor on this rifle?

Yes. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28, so a suppressor or muzzle brake can be installed. Be sure to check your local laws regarding suppressor legality and registration.
