The Heritage Rough Rider 16" revolver in .22 LR / .22 WMR is a single-action rimfire built for shooters who value simplicity, affordability, and pure trigger fun. Whether you're zeroing in on tin cans at the back forty, ringing steel targets at the range, or managing varmints and pests around the property, this two-cylinder combo gun delivers reliable performance without breaking the bank. The 16-inch barrel gives you the sight radius and velocity you need for accurate rimfire shooting, while the single-action-only mechanism keeps things straightforward—no safety levers, no decockers, just a classic pull-to-fire operation with thumb safety and hammer control.

Heritage built this Rough Rider with the same precision action and profile that shooters expect from their centerfire single-actions, scaled down for rimfire efficiency. The cocobolo grips provide a traditional look and dependable control, and the fixed front sight and notch rear sight are set up ready to shoot straight from the box. Six-round capacity and an 8-lands-and-grooves barrel give you enough firepower for a day of plinking and enough accuracy for small-game work. At just over 45 ounces, it carries comfortably for extended shooting sessions.

The real advantage here is versatility: load .22 LR for low noise, minimal recoil, and cheap trigger time, or drop in the .22 WMR cylinder when you want more velocity and energy for longer-range or pest-control work. That flexibility, paired with Heritage's reputation for honest, no-nonsense rimfire revolvers, makes this a natural choice for shooters who want to practice fieldcraft, teach fundamentals, or just have fun without the cost and complexity of centerfire guns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot both .22 LR and .22 WMR in this revolver?

Yes. The Heritage Rough Rider comes with two cylinders—one chambered for .22 LR and one for .22 WMR. You swap cylinders depending on which ammunition you want to use.

Is this revolver suitable for beginners and practice shooting?

Absolutely. The single-action-only mechanism and low recoil make it excellent for learning trigger control and sight picture fundamentals. The .22 LR option keeps ammunition costs low for extended range sessions.

What sights does it have, and are they adjustable?

The Rough Rider features a fixed front sight and a fixed notch rear sight. They are not adjustable, and the gun ships sighted in ready to shoot.

What's the total length, and will it fit standard holsters?

The overall length is 21.37 inches with the 16-inch barrel. Before purchasing a holster, confirm the model is compatible with the Heritage Rough Rider and this specific barrel length.
