Heritage Rough Rider Bird Head .22 LR/.22 WMR Revolver, 4.75" Barrel, Black Finish
Heritage Mfg
The Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR/.22 WMR revolver with 4.75" barrel is a nimble, affordable single-action wheelgun that checks the boxes for plinking, small-game hunting, and learning revolver fundamentals. Built on Heritage's proven frame design, this .22 double-cylinder revolver—chambered for both standard .22 LR and the peppier .22 WMR—gives you two rounds of fun for every reload. It's the kind of gun that makes range days long, trigger time cheap, and marksmanship better.
The bird head grip profile is the standout here. Unlike traditional full-size revolver grips, this shorter, flatter design sits deeper in the hand and makes the gun easier to conceal—useful if you're thinking EDC or hiking backup. It also gives shooters with smaller hands a more comfortable, stable purchase and better leverage when cocking the hammer. Pair that with the 4.75" barrel and 9.5" overall length, and you've got a compact package that doesn't sacrifice sight radius or handling balance.
You get both cylinders in the box: swap between .22 LR and .22 WMR without swapping guns. The fixed front sight and rear notch keep things simple—no batteries, no adjustments, just point and shoot. Single-action only means you'll be thumbing that hammer for each shot, which develops better trigger control and is part of the fun with .22s. At 29.3 oz, it's light enough to carry all day, tough enough for regular range use, and reliable enough that Heritage's warranty backs it.
Whether you're introducing a new shooter to revolvers, building a .22 collection, or after a lightweight survival/utility gun, the Rough Rider delivers without the premium price tag.

One cylinder is chambered for .22 LR (standard velocity .22 ammo), and the other is chambered for .22 WMR (a more powerful magnum variant). You swap cylinders to switch between them—no gunsmithing needed. This gives you two calibers' worth of versatility in one gun.
Yes. The .22 LR has almost no recoil, the single-action trigger is clean and predictable, and the gun is affordable, meaning you can shoot a lot without guilt. The bird head grip works well for both adults and shooters with smaller hands, and the simple fixed sights teach proper sight alignment without adding complexity.
At 29.3 oz with a bird head grip and compact 4.75" barrel, it's certainly lighter and smaller than full-size revolvers. Whether it suits your EDC depends on your carry method and comfort level with .22 LR as a defensive round—that's a personal choice. Many owners do carry it for hiking, camping, or truck backup.
The revolver comes with both the .22 LR and .22 WMR cylinders, so you can switch calibers whenever you want. It ships with the Black Pearl grips installed.
