The Heritage Rough Rider 16" .22 LR revolver in US Flag Edition is a long-barreled single-action pistol built for shooters who want accuracy at extended distances without breaking the bank. Inspired by the classic Colt Buntline design, this 16-inch revolver trades the compact carry profile of typical .22s for genuine sight radius and velocity—making it equally at home punching targets at the range or working small game and pests around the property. With its distinctive patriotic grip and fixed front sight, this is a revolver that stands out in a crowd.

Heritage built the Rough Rider 16" around simplicity and reliability. The single-action mechanism is straightforward: cock the hammer, squeeze the trigger, repeat. No safeties to fumble, no adjustments to dial in—just point and shoot. The fixed front sight and notch rear sight are zeroed to work right out of the box, though they demand that you actually use good fundamentals to ring steel at distance. Six rounds per cylinder give you enough to work with for an afternoon session without constant reloading.

At 45 ounces unloaded and 21 inches overall, this isn't a gun you pocket or strap to your hip for a day hike. It's a purpose-built range gun or homestead .22 that rewards patience and good marksmanship. The cocobolo-style grips are a nice touch—they feel substantial and look good—and the black oxide finish on the alloy steel cylinder and barrel keeps things low-key. The zinc alloy frame keeps weight down while the 1:16 right-hand twist stabilizes .22 LR bullets through eight grooves of rifling.

If you shoot single-action revolvers and want to explore what a genuine sight radius and barrel length can do for .22 LR accuracy, the Heritage Rough Rider 16" deserves a look. It's not fancy, but it works.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this 16" Rough Rider and a standard revolver?

The 16-inch barrel gives you significantly more sight radius and velocity than compact revolvers, which translates to better accuracy at distance. It's based on the Buntline design—a long-barreled single-action built for precision shooting rather than quick-draw work.

Is this a good .22 LR for target shooting and small game?

Yes. The extended barrel length, fixed sights, and single-action trigger make it well-suited for deliberate, accurate shooting at the range or for dispatching pests and small game around the homestead. It rewards good technique and patience.

What comes with the revolver?

The Heritage Rough Rider 16" comes with one alloy steel cylinder. You'll need to supply your own .22 LR ammunition and holster.

Can I adjust the sights?

This model features a fixed front sight and notch rear sight, meaning the sights are set and not adjustable. They are calibrated from the factory.
