The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider .22LR revolver in nickel with 6.5" barrel is a straightforward, affordable single-action .22 that makes sense for plinking, small-game hunting, or introducing new shooters to revolver basics. Built on a zinc alloy frame with nickel finish throughout the barrel and cylinder, this six-shot delivers the classic feel of a Western-style revolver without the premium price tag. The Polystar grips provide a secure, comfortable hold whether you're at the range or in the field.

Single-action operation means you'll manually cock the hammer before each shot—simple, reliable, and low-maintenance. The fixed front sight and notch rear sight are basic but functional for close-range work. At 33.4 ounces unloaded and 11.78 inches overall, it's a compact, lightweight carry option for backyard plinking or small game. The 1:14 right-hand twist and six-groove barrel are engineered to stabilize .22LR ammunition across its full velocity range.

Whether you're sighting in on cans at 25 yards, hunting squirrels or rabbits, or teaching a younger shooter the fundamentals of revolver handling, the Rough Rider delivers honest, no-frills performance. Nickel finish resists corrosion better than blued steel, and the overall simplicity means fewer moving parts to wear out or require maintenance in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Heritage Rough Rider a good revolver for beginners?

Yes. Single-action operation is simple to learn, the .22LR cartridge produces minimal recoil, and the straightforward mechanical design makes it easy to understand how the gun works. It's an excellent choice for teaching fundamentals.

What ammunition does this .22LR revolver shoot?

Standard .22 Long Rifle (LR) ammunition. The 1:14 right-hand twist is optimized for standard .22LR velocity and bullet weights.

What's the difference between single-action and double-action revolvers?

This Rough Rider is single-action, meaning you manually cock the hammer before each shot. Double-action revolvers let you pull the trigger to both cock and fire in one motion. Single-action is generally simpler, requires less trigger pressure, and is favored for precision work and learning.

Does the nickel finish offer any advantage over blued steel?

Nickel finish is more corrosion-resistant than standard blued steel, which can be beneficial in humid or wet conditions. It also has a distinctive appearance and requires less maintenance to prevent rust.
