The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider Rancher .22LR 16" 6-round revolver with Picatinny rail brings modern versatility to a classic rimfire platform. This is a genuine ranch rifle for casual shooting, small-game hunting, and backcountry fun—built on an aluminum alloy frame finished in black oxide and chambered in the economical, low-recoil .22 LR cartridge. The 16-inch barrel keeps the overall profile manageable at 32 inches, making it surprisingly handy for someone who wants precision and ease of aim without the complexity of a semi-auto.

What sets this Rancher apart is its practical accessory foundation. A top-mounted Picatinny rail lets you mount optics, red dots, or magnified scopes to dial in your shot—a real advantage over traditional notch-and-bead sighting. The muzzle is threaded, opening the door to sound suppressors or other muzzle devices if you choose. Single-action operation keeps things straightforward, and the 6-round capacity is plenty for the work this gun does. The black beech stock feels like a working tool, not a safe queen.

At just under 66 ounces unloaded, the Rancher won't wear you down on a day afield. The 1:16 right-hand twist stabilizes the rimfire round, and the eight grooves in the barrel encourage consistent velocity. Whether you're zeroing an optic on the bench, plinking at the range, or taking aim at varmints, this revolver carbine gives you the foundation to shoot accurately without breaking the bank on ammunition or the gun itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the Rough Rider Rancher?

Yes. The Picatinny rail mounted on top of the receiver accepts standard rings and mounts for optics, allowing you to add magnified scopes or red-dot sights for better sight-in and accuracy.

What muzzle attachments does the threaded barrel support?

The threaded muzzle accommodates suppressors and other standard threaded muzzle devices. Verify thread pitch and size compatibility with the specific attachment you plan to use.

Is this revolver good for hunting small game?

The .22 LR is well-suited to small-game hunting and varmint control. Combined with the 16-inch barrel, optics rail, and single-action accuracy, the Rancher gives you a practical carbine for that purpose, though always verify local hunting regulations and game laws in your area.

Can I swap calibers on this carbine?

The supplier notes that the Rancher accepts .22 Magnum and .22 LR cylinders, though specific cylinder availability and fitment should be confirmed with Heritage Mfg or a qualified gunsmith.
