The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider 9" .22LR/.22 Mag revolver brings single-action simplicity and Old West charm to rimfire shooting without the hefty price tag or recoil of centerfire magnums. This is a true single-action revolver scaled down from classic designs, chambered to fire both .22 Long Rifle and .22 Magnum ammunition from the same 6-round cylinder. Whether you're after a reliable plinker, a small-game hunting sidearm, or a fun entry point into cowboy action shooting, the Rough Rider delivers proven reliability in a package that won't wear you out after a long day at the range.

Build quality shows throughout. The 9" blued steel barrel is micro-threaded and precisely inserted into the aluminum-alloy frame to maintain the tight cylinder lock-up and clean timing that keeps shots landing where you aim them. Heritage uses modern precision machinery on every gun, but the result looks and handles like it stepped out of a 1873 catalog. A hammer block safety in the recoil shield includes a red dot indicator so you know at a glance when the gun is ready to fire. The flat-sided hammer pairs with exotic cocobolo wood grips for a gun that's both functional and genuinely handsome—no plastic or compromise on feel.

At 33.4 ounces and 14.3 inches overall, it sits comfortably in the hand and carries easily. The fixed open sights are simple and effective. With a 6-pound trigger pull, the action breaks clean and predictable. This is the kind of revolver that rewards steady practice and deliberate shooting, whether you're teaching a new shooter, stocking a survival kit, or just enjoying an afternoon of honest rimfire work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot both .22 LR and .22 Magnum in the same gun?

Yes. The Rough Rider is chambered for both .22 Long Rifle and .22 Magnum ammunition, and you can load either cartridge into the same 6-round cylinder. This versatility lets you choose the right load for your game or purpose without needing a second revolver.

What sights does it have?

The Rough Rider is equipped with a fixed open notch rear sight and a standard front sight. These are simple and effective for close to mid-range work, typical of classic single-action revolver design.

Is this good for hunting?

Yes, the Rough Rider is well-suited for hunting small game and varmints. The availability of .22 Magnum ammunition gives you flexibility depending on what you're after, and the 9" barrel provides good sight radius and velocity for accurate shot placement.

What is the hammer block safety?

Heritage includes a hammer block mounted in the recoil shield as an extra safety feature. It includes a red dot indicator that shows when the hammer is cocked and the gun is ready to fire, giving you immediate visual confirmation of the gun's state.
