The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider is a single-action rimfire revolver that brings honest Old West styling to shooters who want fun, accurate practice and light-duty hunting in a manageable, affordable package. Chambered for both .22 LR and .22 Magnum, this 4.75-inch barreled revolver delivers the classic lines of a Colt Single Action Army but in a smaller, lighter frame that's genuinely practical for everyday use. Whether you're plinking at tin cans, hunting small game, or running it in cowboy action matches, the Rough Rider handles all three with equal competence.

The gun's architecture centers on solid engineering: a tight cylinder lock-up, precision micro-threading on the barrel, and a micro-fitted gap between barrel and cylinder that maximizes ammunition performance from either cartridge you load. Heritage used aluminum alloy for the frame to keep overall weight at a comfortable 33.4 ounces while maintaining a steel blued barrel and cylinder for durability. A hammer block safety mounted in the recoil shield includes a red-dot indicator so you can visually confirm the gun is ready—a thoughtful detail that's often missing on budget rimfires. The 6-pound trigger is light enough to be controllable without being hair-trigger dangerous, and the open fixed-notch rear sight is simple and reliable.

Cosmetically, the Rough Rider nails the aesthetic: a modern flat-sided hammer, cocobolo wood grips, and that unmistakable single-action profile draw the eye without pretense. At 10 inches overall and 33.4 ounces, it swings and handles like you'd expect a rimfire should—fast and intuitive. This is a revolver that doesn't apologize for what it is: a straightforward, well-made tool for shooters who value heritage design, honest reliability, and value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Rough Rider fire both .22 LR and .22 Magnum?

Yes. The Rough Rider is chambered for both .22 LR and .22 Magnum cartridges in the same 9-round cylinder, so you can switch between them without changing cylinders or the gun itself.

The Rough Rider features open fixed-notch sights: a notched rear sight and a blade front sight. These are simple, robust, and proven effective for the distances and uses this revolver is built for.

What safety features are included?

A hammer block safety is mounted in the recoil shield and includes a red-dot indicator that shows when the gun is ready to fire, adding a visual confirmation layer to the mechanical safety.
