The Henry Silver Eagle lever-action rifle in .22 S/L/LR is a historically inspired .22 rimfire that brings art and function together in one heirloom-quality firearm. Built on Henry's proven Golden Boy platform, the Silver Eagle channels the aesthetic of an original 1860s Henry rifle—right down to the octagonal barrel and period-correct buckhorn sights—but wraps it in hand-engraved receiver panels that tell a story. This isn't just another .22 plinker; it's a rifle that honors American gunmaking heritage while delivering reliable lever-action shooting for small game, target work, and the kind of casual range time that reminds you why you fell in love with rifles in the first place.

The receiver sports nickel plating and silver-finished barrel band and buttplate, with a blued lever and barrel that create genuine visual contrast without feeling overdone. A fancy American walnut buttstock completes the aesthetic—solid wood that ages gracefully and feels substantial in your hands. At 6.75 pounds and 38.5 inches overall, it's nimble enough to carry all day but substantial enough to shoot confidently. The 20-inch octagonal barrel pairs with adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights and a brass-beaded front sight, giving you the vintage sight picture without modern clutter.

Magazine capacity runs 16 rounds of .22 LR, with compatibility for .22 Short and .22 Long as well—flexibility that lets you shoot what you have on hand. The lever action is smooth and intuitive, whether you're clearing a plinking session or teaching someone their first rifle fundamentals. This is the kind of .22 that doesn't apologize for its looks or its heritage; it earns its place in a serious shooter's battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rimfire cartridges does the Silver Eagle shoot?

The Henry Silver Eagle is chambered in .22 S/L/LR, meaning it safely and reliably cycles .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle ammunition. Magazine capacity is 16 rounds when shooting .22 LR.

Is this a good rifle for beginners or small game hunting?

Yes. The lever action is intuitive and satisfying to operate, making it excellent for teaching fundamentals. At 6.75 pounds with a 20-inch barrel, it's also manageable in size and recoil, and the .22 rimfire is ideal for small game and target shooting. The traditional sights reward deliberate aim.

What makes the engraving on the receiver special?

The Silver Eagle's hand-engraved pattern was custom cut from original photographs and drawings of a historic Henry rifle (Serial Number 9) that was presented to U.S. Navy Secretary Gideon Welles during the Civil War era. The full-coverage scroll design on both sides of the receiver reproduces that historic artistry for modern production.

How does the finish hold up to field use?

The nickel-plated receiver and silver-finished barrel band and buttplate provide corrosion resistance typical of nickel finishes. The blued barrel and lever will require standard care and maintenance like any blued firearm. The walnut stock is solid but, like all wood, will show its age and use over time—many consider this part of the character.
