The Diamondback AM2 9mm pistol is a compact, striker-fired defensive handgun built for shooters who want a reliable, no-nonsense carry gun without the premium price tag. This 3.5-inch-barreled 9mm delivers the stopping power and capacity you expect from a modern carry piece in a frame that works for everyday belt carry, backup duty, or range work. At 22 ounces unloaded with a slim 0.975-inch slide profile, the AM2 sits comfortably between subcompact and compact territory—nimble enough to conceal but substantial enough to shoot straight.

Built on a black polymer frame with a stainless steel slide finished in black nitride, the AM2 resists corrosion while keeping aesthetics low-key and professional. The captured recoil system is fully steel, meaning you get the durability and longevity of a traditional design without the plastic guides that wear faster. Sights are the classic 3-dot setup and Glock-compatible, so upgrades and replacements are cheap and plentiful. The striker-fired double-action trigger breaks at 5–6 pounds—crisp enough for precision but heavy enough for safe carry without an external safety lever.

With a 17-round magazine capacity and a 4.97-inch sight radius from that stubby barrel, the AM2 punches above its weight class on the range. The 1:10 right-hand twist keeps 9mm projectiles stable at any distance. If you're shopping for a value-driven carry 9mm that doesn't cut corners on steel components, or a trainer that can take a beating at the range without breaking the bank, the Diamondback AM2 is worth a hard look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Diamondback AM2 good for concealed carry?

Yes. At 22 ounces with a slim 0.975-inch slide and compact 3.5-inch barrel, the AM2 is designed to work with IWB holsters and other concealment rigs. The overall height with the standard 17-round magazine is 5.6 inches, which carries cleanly under most cover garments.

Can I use aftermarket Glock sights and accessories on the AM2?

Sights are Glock-compatible, so yes—you can swap in tritium night sights, fiber-optic front posts, or any standard Glock sight dovetail parts. Holster and magazine compatibility may vary, so always verify fit before purchase.

What's the difference between the 12-round and 17-round magazines?

Both ship with the pistol. The 17-round magazine provides full capacity and brings the grip height to 5.6 inches; the 12-round magazine reduces overall height to 4.6 inches for a slightly lower-profile carry option if you prioritize concealability.

Is the AM2 a good range gun or training pistol?

Absolutely. The captured steel recoil system, stainless steel barrel, and nitride slide are built to handle high round counts. The 17-round capacity and 4.97-inch sight radius make it practical for marksmanship practice, and the 5–6 lb trigger is suitable for defensive training.
