The Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45 ACP is a purpose-built competition pistol that brings modern ergonomics and classic Colt reliability to the handgun range. If you're serious about action shooting sports—IDPA, USPSA, or other tactical matches—this 5-inch semi-auto delivers the features you need to stay competitive. Built on the proven 1911 platform and chambered in .45 ACP, the Gold Cup Trophy combines proven design with contemporary refinements that separate it from surplus and basic production 1911s.

Every detail here speaks to competition use. The front and back strap sport 25 LPI checkering for a secure grip that won't slip during rapid fire or in wet conditions. The beveled magazine well makes reloads faster and more reliable—those tenths of a second matter on the clock. Colt's competition-grade G10 grips deliver excellent purchase and durability. An adjustable rear sight lets you fine-tune zero and make elevation calls on steel or paper without gunsmithing. Single-action-only (SAO) trigger and single-stack capacity mean you're running the same manual of arms as thousands of other 1911 competitors.

The blued and stainless steel finish is tough enough for regular range work and match use. With an 8-round magazine capacity standard for the platform, the Gold Cup Trophy fills a lane between basic GI guns and race-only builds—it's a genuine competitor's gun that won't break the bank or require extensive customization before your first match. Whether you're stepping into 1911 competition or upgrading from a duty-grade gun, this one's ready to run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Colt Gold Cup Trophy suitable for competition shooting?

Yes. This pistol is purpose-built for competition with ergonomics, sighting, and controls optimized for action sports like IDPA and USPSA. The beveled magazine well, adjustable rear sight, competition grips, and quality checkering all reflect that design priority.

What's included with this pistol?

The gun ships with competition-grade G10 grips and an 8-round magazine. Confirm with your dealer regarding any additional accessories or documentation included.

Can I use 1911 aftermarket parts with the Gold Cup Trophy?

The Colt Gold Cup Trophy is built on the 1911 platform, which has extensive aftermarket support. However, fit and compatibility of any third-party part should be verified; consult Colt or a qualified gunsmith if modifications are planned.

Is this pistol good for carry or home defense?

The Gold Cup Trophy is designed and optimized for competition shooting. While the 1911 platform is historically used for defense, this particular model's ergonomics and features are tuned for range and match work rather than defensive carry scenarios.
