The Colt 1911 Government Model in .45 ACP stainless steel is the modern take on an American classic. This O1911CSS brings together the timeless Government frame and profile with materials and features built for serious shooters who want a reliable, hard-use .45 ACP pistol. If you're looking for a full-size 1911 that balances heritage with practical improvements, the stainless Government delivers the ergonomics and firepower that made the platform iconic.
Built around Colt's Series 70 firing system, this 1911 keeps the mechanical simplicity that has made the design legendary among competitive shooters, hunters, and defensive carriers alike. The 5-inch National Match barrel ensures consistent accuracy and reliability, while the brushed stainless frame and slide resist corrosion and maintain a professional appearance whether you're at the range, in the field, or training for duty. This is a pistol that works.
The fixed sights—staked front and fixed rear—are traditional iron setup that keeps you in action without batteries or electronics. Seven-round magazine capacity, double diamond checkered rosewood grips, and that full-size Government profile give you genuine control and pointability in .45 ACP. The pre-70 Series rollmarks add authenticity for folks who appreciate the heritage side of the 1911 platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Series 70 and other 1911 systems?
The Series 70 uses a collet barrel bushing and simplified mechanical design that many shooters prefer for reliability and ease of maintenance. It lacks the series 80 firing pin safety, keeping the trigger action straightforward.
Is this .45 ACP pistol good for hunting or self-defense?
The .45 ACP is a proven defensive and hunting round, and the full-size Government frame with 5-inch barrel gives you the sight radius and velocity for accurate shot placement at typical handgun distances. The fixed sights and 7-round capacity are practical for both roles.
Can I use standard 1911 magazines and parts with this gun?
As a Government-profile 1911, this pistol will accept standard 1911 .45 ACP magazines and is compatible with common aftermarket parts and upgrades, though we recommend verifying fit before use.
Why stainless steel over parkerized or blued?
Stainless steel resists rust and corrosion with minimal maintenance, making it a practical choice for shooters who use their pistols in varied conditions or don't want to maintain a blued finish regularly.
