The Colt 1911 Comp Series 70 in .38 Super is a competition-focused semi-automatic pistol built on the proven 1911 platform for shooters who demand precision and reliability on the range or in tactical matches. Chambered in .38 Super—a cartridge favored for its flat trajectory and lower recoil than standard .45 ACP—this stainless steel pistol pairs classic 1911 ergonomics with modern competition features designed to keep you in the fight. With a 9+1 round capacity, National Match barrel, and dual recoil spring system, it's engineered for serious shooters who won't compromise on accuracy or control.

The Comp Series 70 feels like an extension of your hand, thanks to its G10 checkered grips with scallop and extended thumb safety paired with a beavertail grip. The single-action trigger—refined by a 3-hole aluminum design—breaks clean and predictable. Up top, Novak fiber optic front sights and adjustable rear sights give you fast, reliable target acquisition in varying light. The 5-inch barrel keeps the overall length at 8.5 inches, striking a balance between sight radius and handling; at 36 ounces, it's hefty enough to manage recoil but nimble enough for responsive shooting.

Built from brushed stainless steel throughout, this pistol resists corrosion and looks equally at home on a match line or in a duty holster. The Series 70 design—Colt's original 1911 configuration—remains one of the most reliable semi-automatic platforms ever manufactured. Whether you're running competition courses of fire or training for defensive readiness, the .38 Super Comp delivers the accuracy, control, and durability serious shooters have relied on for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes .38 Super different from standard .45 ACP?

.38 Super delivers a flatter, faster trajectory and reduced recoil compared to .45 ACP, making it popular for competition shooting where follow-up accuracy and speed matter. It's a proven match cartridge that balances power and control.

Is the Series 70 design reliable for defensive use?

Yes. The Series 70 is Colt's original 1911 configuration, renowned for its reliability and simplicity. Thousands have been carried and trusted by shooters for decades. It lacks the series 80 firing pin safety, which some shooters prefer for its cleaner trigger break and traditional design.

Can I adjust the sights for windage and elevation?

The rear sight is adjustable; the front sight is a fixed Novak fiber optic. Spare sight fibers are included so you can replace them if damaged. This setup is typical for competition pistols where the rear sight handles field adjustments.

What's included with the pistol?

The pistol comes with spare sight fibers. Magazines, holster, and other accessories are not included; check locally for availability of 1911-compatible gear.
