The Cimarron Firearms 1886 Rifle in .45-70 Gov't is a faithful reproduction of John Browning's legendary lever-action design, built to handle the demands of serious hunting and sport shooting. If you're drawn to classic big-game rifles with proven stopping power, or you want the iconic profile of a 19th-century Winchester without the five-figure collector's premium, the Cimarron 1886 delivers authentic handling and genuine utility at a fraction of original-gun prices. The 26-inch octagon barrel swings smoothly in brush and across open country, chambered in the formidable .45-70 Government cartridge—a caliber trusted for over 150 years in North America and Africa.

Cimarron's 1886 is engineered to the same strength standards as the originals, so you can load it with modern ammunition and trust it in the field. The case-hardened frame and standard blue finish give it that working-rifle character—not safe-queen precious, but genuinely handsome. Walnut furniture and a comfortable weight of 9 pounds create a rifle that points naturally and doesn't punish you on a long day of hunting. With an 8+1 capacity, you've got the firepower of a proper lever gun without over-complicating the action.

Whether you're pursuing elk, moose, or feral hogs, or you simply appreciate a rifle that connects you to a century of American sporting tradition, the Cimarron 1886 is built to work and built to last. It's the kind of rifle that reminds you why this platform became the standard for serious hunters from Roosevelt's era to today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the .45-70 Government cartridge used for?

The .45-70 Gov't is a proven big-game round suitable for elk, moose, and large dangerous game. It delivers heavy bullets at moderate velocity, making it effective at hunting distances and reliable in the field. It's also popular for sport shooting and cowboy action events.

Is the Cimarron 1886 as strong as an original Winchester 1886?

Yes. Cimarron manufactures the 1886 to modern safety and strength standards equivalent to the original design, allowing you to safely use modern .45-70 ammunition. The original Winchesters were built to similar specs, but Cimarron's reproduction is engineered for contemporary loads without compromise.
