The Charter Arms Mag Pug Large .357 Magnum Revolver in stainless steel is a no-nonsense compact revolver built for shooters who want serious stopping power in a manageable package. This 5-shot .357 Magnum revolver combines the proven reliability of double-action/single-action operation with practical carry dimensions, making it a solid choice for home defense, backup duty, or anyone seeking a potent short-barrel option without excessive bulk.

At 23 ounces and built around a 2.2-inch ported barrel, the Mag Pug offers the full-house power of .357 Magnum ammunition—or the softer recoil of .38 Special loads if you prefer—in a platform that won't wear you down over a training session or carry day. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion, and the traditional spurred hammer gives you both double-action trigger options for immediate use and single-action capability once you've decided to fire. Full-size grips provide the control and comfort necessary to manage a magnum revolver's recoil and shoot it accurately when it counts.

The Mag Pug's ported barrel is designed to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise, characteristics that matter when you're working with a snappy round like .357 Magnum in a lightweight frame. Adjustable sights let you dial in your loads at the range before the revolver goes into service, and the 5-round capacity is typical for this class of revolver—a trade-off between firepower and overall compactness that many shooters accept willingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot .38 Special ammunition in the Charter Arms Mag Pug?

Yes. The Mag Pug is chambered in .357 Magnum, which safely fires both .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges. Many shooters use .38 Special loads for training or reduced recoil practice.

What makes the ported barrel useful?

Ports along the barrel redirect gas to help reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise. In a lightweight magnum revolver like this, porting makes the gun easier to control during follow-up shots and can improve shooting comfort during longer range sessions.

Is the Mag Pug suitable for concealed carry or home defense?

The Mag Pug's 2.2-inch barrel and 23-ounce weight make it compact enough for carry by some shooters, and its .357 Magnum power is well-suited for home defense applications. Carry and use decisions are personal—train with your intended load and ensure safe, responsible handling.

How do I adjust the sights?

The Mag Pug features adjustable sights, allowing you to zero the revolver for your chosen ammunition at the range. Consult the owner's manual for specific adjustment procedures and tools required.
