The Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed in .270 Winchester is a modern bolt-action hunting rifle built for shooters who demand accuracy without compromise. This rifle combines Browning's proven action design with the latest refinements in ergonomics, stock adjustability, and recoil management—making it a solid choice for hunters tackling medium to large game at reasonable distances. The X-Bolt 2 Speed features a redesigned receiver with enhanced bolt guidance surfaces and a new spiral-fluted bolt that cycles smoothly and clears most modern optics quickly thanks to its short 60-degree lift.

The Vari-Tech composite stock sets this rifle apart in the field. It's finished in Browning's OVIX camouflage pattern and comes fully adjustable: you can dial in the length of pull, comb height, and even swap between sporter and vertical grip configurations to match your body geometry and shooting style. The stock's black overmolded grip surfaces provide traction and control in wet conditions. Up front, the fluted sporter-weight barrel balances accuracy with a trim, packable profile. The new Inflex recoil pad (1-1/4 inch) absorbs felt recoil without excessive length, and a radial-style muzzle brake redirects impulse for faster follow-up shots. All metal surfaces wear a Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish that outperforms traditional bluing or bare stainless in corrosion resistance.

Handling and safety have been refined too. The top-tang safety is positioned where your thumb naturally rests, and the new bolt unlock button adds an extra layer of assurance when clearing the chamber or checking a loaded rifle. The DLX trigger is set to hunting-appropriate weights and is patent-pending in its adjustability. Scope mounting is straightforward via Browning's X-Lock system, which uses four screws per base to lock your optics solidly to the receiver. The barrel is bedded at the recoil lug and action screws, then free-floated for inherent accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the X-Bolt 2 Speed action smooth and reliable?

The redesigned receiver has additional bolt guidance surface area that keeps the bolt moving smoothly on its path. The new spiral-fluted bolt and ergonomic bolt knob minimize drag and make cycling fast and effortless. The short 60-degree lift means you'll clear most modern scopes without moving your head, and you can get the next round in the chamber quickly on follow-up shots.

Is the Vari-Tech stock really adjustable, and why does that matter?

Yes. You can adjust length of pull to fit your arm, comb height to match your optic and cheek weld, and even swap between sporter and vertical grips to suit your grip preference and shooting style. These adjustments let you customize the rifle to your body geometry, which improves comfort, consistency, and accuracy over long hunting days.

What finish protects the barrel best, and why does it matter in the field?

The Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish is more durable and corrosion-resistant than traditional bluing or bare stainless steel. It holds up better in wet conditions, salt spray, and rough handling—important if you hunt in damp climates or near water.

Will my scope mount securely to this rifle?

Yes. The X-Lock scope mounting system uses four screws per base to attach your optic bases to the receiver, providing a rock-solid, repeatable hold for your glass.
