The Browning Silver gas-operated shotgun is a reliable, affordable 12-gauge autoloader built for hunters and clay shooters who want proven performance without breaking the bank. This 3-1/2 chamber model features Browning's time-tested Active Valve Gas System, which self-adjusts to cycle everything from light target loads to heavy hunting rounds while keeping recoil manageable for faster follow-ups and all-day comfort. The 26-inch barrel wears a tough Cerakote Flat Dark Earth finish for durability, while the composite stock and forearm sport a retro Vintage Tan camo hydrodip—a distinct look that sets it apart from standard black plastic guns at the range or in the field.
What makes the Silver stand out is how well it balances affordability with Browning's reputation for durability. The Active Valve system is self-adjusting: it holds back gas from lighter loads to maintain reliable cycling, then vents excess pressure from heavier loads to reduce felt recoil. Those gases exit through the top of the forearm and away from the receiver, keeping the action cleaner and less prone to fouling. The bolt and bolt slide are phosphate-coated for long-term reliability, and you get three Invector-Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) right out of the box, plus a brass bead front sight for quick target acquisition.
Whether you're working field birds, chasing ducks, or breaking clays on the weekend, the Browning Silver delivers the soft-shooting, easy-handling platform that's made the line a favorite since the early 2000s. It's the gun for shooters who value function and comfort over flash.

Frequently Asked Questions
What loads will the Browning Silver cycle reliably?
The Active Valve Gas System is self-adjusting and designed to reliably cycle a wide range of loads, from light target ammunition to heavy hunting loads. The system adjusts gas venting based on load power to maintain reliable operation across the spectrum.
Is the Browning Silver good for hunting and clay shooting?
Yes. The 26-inch barrel, 3-1/2 chamber, and included choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) make it versatile for field hunting and clay sports. The soft-recoiling gas system and composite stock are also practical for extended shooting sessions either discipline demands.
What choke tubes come with this shotgun?
Three Invector-Plus choke tubes are included: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. These cover most hunting and target shooting scenarios.
Why does the Browning Silver feel like it recoils less than other shotguns?
The Active Valve Gas System is the key. It uses the gun's own gas pressure to cycle the action and reduce felt recoil, especially from heavy loads. Excess gases are vented out the top of the forearm and away from the receiver, which contributes to the softer shooting experience and helps keep you on target for faster follow-ups.
