The Browning Maxus II Stalker is a gas-operated 12-gauge autoloading shotgun built for hunters and sport shooters who demand reliability across varied hunting situations and ammunition types. With a 28-inch barrel and 3-inch chamber, this versatile shotgun handles everything from clay courses to waterfowl hunts, backed by Browning's reputation for engineering shotguns that simply work when it counts. The Maxus II improves on its proven predecessor with comfort-first upgrades and refined ergonomics that make long days in the field genuinely enjoyable rather than something to endure.
What sets the Maxus II apart is its Power Drive Gas System, designed to cycle reliably across the full spectrum of shotgun ammunition—light target loads through heavy magnum rounds—while managing recoil so you stay on target and stay comfortable. The Lightning Trigger, borrowed from Browning's history of autoloading shotguns, delivers the fastest lock time in its class. A new SoftFlex cheek pad and 1.5-inch Inflex recoil pad work together to absorb punishment, which matters when you're pushing 3.5-inch shells. The composite stock is trimmed and shim-adjustable, fitting shooters of different builds without custom work or expense.
The Stalker wears a no-glare matte black finish and subdued styling—function over flash. Oversized bolt release and bolt handle speed reloads and simplify operation in cold weather or with gloved hands. Nickel-Teflon coating on the bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, and bolt handle resists corrosion and reduces friction, critical in wet marshes and salty air. A chrome chamber and bore add durability. Rubberized panels on the stock and forearm ensure solid purchase when wet or muddy. The ramped trigger guard makes feeding smoother, and the screw-on magazine cap is easy to service in the field.
The shotgun ships with three Invector-Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder), a HiViz Tri-Comp fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead for quick target acquisition, and a hard ABS case for safe transport and storage. Lightweight magazine tube keeps overall weight down without sacrifice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Browning Maxus II Stalker suitable for hunting waterfowl and upland game?
Yes. The 3-inch chamber and 28-inch barrel work well across waterfowl and upland hunting. The Power Drive Gas System is tuned to cycle everything from light clay target loads to heavy 3.5-inch magnum rounds reliably, so you can load to the situation. The three included choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) cover most hunting scenarios.
Can the stock be adjusted or cut down to fit my frame?
Yes. The composite stock is designed to be trimmed up to 3/4 inch and is shim-adjustable for both cast (left or right) and length of pull (forward or backward), allowing the shotgun to fit a range of shooter sizes and builds without gunsmithing.
What does the Maxus II include in the box?
The shotgun ships with three Invector-Plus choke tubes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder), a HiViz Tri-Comp fiber-optic front sight with ivory mid-bead already installed, and a protective ABS hard case for transport and storage.
How does the Inflex recoil pad help with felt recoil?
The 1.5-inch-thick Inflex recoil pad, combined with the new SoftFlex cheek pad, works to absorb and disperse recoil energy, reducing the punishing sensation of shooting 3.5-inch magnum loads and helping you stay comfortable and on target during long shooting sessions.
